You probably think I have lost my marbles! How could I possibly be happy the cold temperatures are sticking around? Well…every winter I use the big outdoors as one big giant refrigerator! It is perfect for keeping extra juice and pop cold- especially during times of entertaining. I will admit, really cold temperatures can play havoc with carbonated liquids - like- exploding pop! I have had to clean up syrupy messes and carefully remove cracked bottles to the sink for thawing more than once. But the snow on top of my barbeque and the continuing chilly temperatures have been well utilized!
Super Bowl Sunday I made ribs in the slow cooker. Ummmm- they were tasty too! Unfortunately we didn’t eat them all that day, so what to do with a pot of ribs and no room in the fridge? Outside the crock pot goes. Unfortunately I forgot about it and a few snow falls later- you could barely tell where it was, except for the slightest indication under the snow.
This past weekend I made a big pot of pea soup. The pot was too big for the fridge so outside it went! Perfect!
So now you can understand why I am (hate to admit it) contend with the below normal temperatures for now. Soup and stew and big pot dinners are some of the comforts of winter, but with the promise of spring I will soon be back to using my barbeque as it was intended!

Thanks for stopping by. ‘Till next time…Stay-Gruv!
