Recess at Work Day

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

That’s what today is!  Call it team building, call it employee morale, call it professional development-just make sure you call it fun!  It’s time for recess… because everyone deserves a timeout.

Can’t come up with any creative ideas? How about one of the following:

  • Create a company time capsule

  • Exercise as a group

  • Play some good old outdoor games like tag, jump rope, or Frisbee

  • Do some volunteer/community work

  • Take that team meeting to a coffee shop or an amusement park

  • Visit a local park. Play a little, and brainstorm a lot; that next big idea might occur during recess

  • Take some time today to start learning a foreign language with your co-workers.                                                                                                                                                Makes me wanna hang out with my best friends and discuss the cutest boys in class!  Or play tetherball… does tetherball still exist?  Though, when I think of it now, when I was in school, the tetherball “equipment” was always missing!  Well, happy “Recess at Work Day”… it IS a REAL thing… it’s on the internet!!

“The Shadow People” aka “Ignorance WAS Bliss”

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Have you ever heard of ”Shadow People”?  If you haven’t (and I hope, for your sake, that you haven’t)… I’m not going to tell you about them… because, without divulging too much, they’re a scary paranormal thing that has me totally freaked out since our co-worker Jessie told us about them yesterday!!!  Granted I scare easily, likely because of my hyperactive imagination.  I was trying to sleep last night and was becoming more and more freaked out.  So, I kept telling myself “think about puppies… think about puppies…” And I actually dreamt about puppies!  Too cute.  One was named Kathy.  She was a Husky.  I had a very pleasant sleep.  Until… I thought I saw a Shadow Person this morning when I got to the radio station.  I gasped audibly, my heart pounded.  It was black garbage bags.  Think about puppies… think about puppies… Thanks, Jessie.

the book doesn’t exist.  Sex and the City fans can’t buy a copy of the romance book featured in the film, but they can get something very close to it. E! Online reports that booksellers have received hundreds of inquiries about Love Letters of Great Men, which Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw reads while in bed with Chris Noth’s Mr. Big. He later uses excerpts from the book in emails to Carrie. No such book actually exists, but you can buy Love Letters of Great Men and Women: From the Eighteenth Century to the Present Day, first released in the 1920s and reissued.  This is great news … if you can convince YOUR “Mr. Big” to quote it!

Rhubarb

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

My best friend just told me I can have the rhubarb growing in his yard!  Do you know what that means?????  Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam!!!!!    I know their aren’t alot of things you can make with rhubarb but my mom makes jam so yummy my cousin once ran away from home,  jumped on a Greyhound bus and travelled 4 hours to our house just to have some!  I have never made jam in my life.  I don’t have jars nor do I know where to get them… but, most importantly, I DO have mom’s recipe!
