Some friends of ours entered their daughter Olivia in the Red Robinson Talent Search at the PNE. She made it to the semi-finals and will be singing at the PNE on August 26th. So cute!!

mmmm Chocolate!

August 9th, 2007 by susansierra

I had a call this morning from a guy who wanted the chocolate info I talked about yesterday.

If you are ever without the chocolate “guide” from inside the box of chocolates, here’s what you need to know…

*Caramel centers are usually square pieces; cream centers are round. High fat centers, like peanut butter cream or soft chocolate truffle, are more likely to be inside milk chocolate, and liquid centers are usually wrapped in foil.

Oh, and don’t forget to share…especially with people who provide you with valuable information such as this :)

*this juicy tidbit was borrowed from the John Tesh Radio Show 8pm - 1am on Clear FM!

I wanted to purge!

August 4th, 2007 by susansierra

I stumbled upon a few things today that I just knew had to go. A box from a camera that is no longer under warranty, a pink bow from a Strawberry Shortcake doll that never makes it to her head, and some buttons from shirts we don’t have anymore.

The problem is…you can’t purge during a garbage strike! We’re already getting worried about where the garbage is going to go. It is rapidly piling up and nearing overflow.

If you’re in Vancouver…what are you doing with your garbage?

So, I’m filling in for Fred & Cathy.

August 2nd, 2007 by susansierra

Really big shoes to fill, but I’m loving it. I’ve never done a morning show, and in fact I’ve never had someone else to talk to on the air. I had grown very accustomed to talking to myself :)

Russ Byth is doing the news and weather (Wayne Cox will be back next week), and Russ and I are having some good times. Hope you’ll join us, 5:30-9am Monday to Friday.

Faith Hill’s man’s parts.

July 31st, 2007 by susansierra

I find it necessary to post this link to the video of Faith Hill givin’ someone heck for groping her man. This one just tickled the funny bone (mildly offensive language alert)…

Watch it here.

THE footage of the oil pipeline spewing.

July 25th, 2007 by susansierra

My brother-in-law Shawn (Steve’s brother) lives right by where the pipeline burst. He was the only person around with a camera and he got it all on tape. It’s pretty spectacular - you can check it out here.

He’s going to be on Canada AM tomorrow to talk about it!

Home from a week of fun!

July 22nd, 2007 by susansierra

Just got back from a week with the family at Christina Lake. Happy to be home, but sad it’s over y’know?

I wanted to say thanks for the emails and recent blog comments. It’s exciting to know a few people are enjoying my blogs:)

I will write about our travels once we move back into the house and get through the 12 loads of laundry!

Should we be concerned when our tomatoes have appendages?

I picked this up at the market today.

After a few hours it had developed quite a personality.

Ant party at my house.

July 7th, 2007 by susansierra

I live in an old house and every summer the ants come marching in. I’ve tried everything. I Google “how to get rid of ants” annually.

I’ve finished searching, and now I just feed them. I have syrup troughs on my window sill.

Steve thinks it’s a bit crazy, but I do it because it keeps them in one area. If the syrup runs dry, the ants disperse all over the counters.

As an added bonus, it’s good entertainment. Jackson (5) usually checks in once a day to see how they’re doing (ok, and so do I).

June is the new December.

June 30th, 2007 by susansierra

If 40 is the new 30 and brown is the new black, then June is the new December. I guess if you’ve got kids older than mine you’re already used to this. My 2 youngest aren’t in school yet and my oldest has just finished Grade 2, so I am just now catching on to the nuttiness of June.

In just the last couple weeks, there was a drumming concert and picnic at school, sports day, an evening at Playland, preschool graduation, Freezie Fridays, 3 baseball wrap parties and 4 birthday parties. I had some extra work commitments too…a luncheon and a boat cruise (if you can call that work).

Sure, the weather is a bit different than Christmastime, but the frenzy is much the same.
