Would you like fries with that?
My husband Steve played in the band Prism for awhile. Aside from the enjoyment of saying “my boyfriend’s in Prism”, Steve and I also learned a little tidbit from Darcy, the lead singer that I would like to pass along to you. This works great for couples, but will also work well with anyone else who you converse with a lot.
Y’know when someone is telling a story, but they’ve already told you before? What do you do? Sure, you can say “yah, you told me that already”…but it doesn’t make the other person feel so good. I suppose you could just wait it out and say “uh-huh” until they’re done…but that’s not really an ideal solution either.
So, here’s what you do…you come up with a “catch-phrase” with your significant other, friend, etc…in Darcy’s case, he and his wife use “Would you like fries with that?” So, if someone is repeating a story, you say “Would you like fries with that?” It’s just an oh-so-gentle reminder that you’ve heard it already.
Steve and I decided that their catch-phrase was so good we’d just use the same one. Now when he tells me how many goals he scored in hockey, I usually give him until the third time before I say “Would you like fries with that?”

I’m glad you like to use the phrase. Christina and I still use it even though she thinks I should just know better than to repeat myself!
But I believe men like to relive those things that women find redundant. Its like rehearsing the story…..
Be well,
