Hello, and Welcome!

My boss suggested in a staff meeting recently that we should do a blog. Hmmm…me? What would I talk about? Then I thought about it and my mind started racing…wait a sec, I can talk about anything right? Even more than when I’m on the air – way more actually. So, what the heck. If you’re interested in reading what I have to say, you will…and if not, you won’t. No biggee.

I guess I’ll start with a little bit about me…I grew up in Vernon, am the youngest of 6 kids (one day I’ll tell you about my wacky family), and have been in radio since I was 14. I’m 36 now, married and have 3 wonderful kids. 2 boys (7 and 5) and a little girl who just turned 2.

I really only thought we’d have 2 kids, but we left that “third kid door” open a crack and…surprise! I actually cried the day the pregnancy test showed positive…and they weren’t tears of joy. My husband (Steve) and I were at a low point in our lives financially and a third child just didn’t seem manageable.

Funny how things turn out. I knew deep down I would really really like to have a girl. She’s unbelievable and I am so grateful that she joined us. Her big brothers are amazing little humans too. Although, we did just find out recently that not one, but both of them have been “acting out in class”. Y’know, being loud and disruptive. Steve and I were the same way in school, so I guess it’s not that shocking. Needless to say, we have a little extra discipline going on at our place right now. And yet another opportunity to discover how much we differ in our disciplining techniques. I grew up with none; Steve’s was over-the-top. So, we’re workin’ it out.

Steve’s a phenomenal dad. He’s the guy at the ball park that plays with all the other peoples’ kids. And, he changes diapers…even more than me I think, but I’d never point that out to him.

You just don’t really know love like you do once you have kids, eh? I’ll talk about my kids a bit, but I won’t go all Kathy Lee on you. I’ll have some parenting info and tips for moms (dads too, but I’m a little more familiar with what makes moms tick). I’ll also talk about money a fair bit (how to make more of it and how to save it), Vancouver Real Estate (can’t wait for the bubble to burst), The Secret (OMG have you seen The Secret?), Travel, and whatever else strikes me as worthwhile conversation that day. I’m always open to your discussion ideas too!

So, yes, sure…I’m up for blogging!
