Ever been?  This is the last weekend for it….the K-W version…..it’s a pretty good party.  The weather sounds like it’s going to be sunny and dry.  Notice zero mention of warm in the previous sentence?:)  Almost time to put the bike to sleep for the winter….

 An addendum to yesterday’s blog….for the record, we receive waaaaay more positive email than negative stuff.  We do though, like to hear it all.  Just send the negative stuff to Jeff Brown;)

I wanted to share something with you.  Don’t stress, this isn’t a girly-share thing.  From time to time we get complaint emails.  I know, you’re shocked;)  Many folks are in a position to receive complaints and the like, I wanted you to know you’re not alone. 

I’ll post one that I received recently….have a look..

“WASTED TIME”
“A music station should play music. When there are more commercials and DJ “YAPPING” then there is a problem. Then when you yap and then laugh at everything you just said, (it’s not funny, why are you laughing), with that annoying music in the background - well time to change the station. What made me think of this was an email I received from someone this morning (Mary).  Mary’s co-worker had voiced a complaint about something Mary had done at work.  It was petty, a non-issue.  It did though, bother her enough to email me.  Obviously, it bugged her.  I want Mary to know she’s not alone in the complaint department…..

OH….here’s the good part….Mary, you will like this part….I can respond to criticism.  That’s the cool part about being a ‘personality’.  I wouldn’t be much of one if I didn’t respond to a letter like the one copied above, now would I? 

I’m not going to post the response I sent him via the lady in his office.  Suffice to say, I’m a nice, reasonable person…..who doesn’t take sh*t from anyone I’m not related to;)   Feel free to post your own *response*…..I should’ve handed it over to you guys in retrospect…

 If you’re willing to dish out criticism, you should be prepared for a response.  All too often, people have to suck it up and take it.  For those of you who have to ‘take it’, a tip of the hat.  I understand it’s easier to respond and vent……so, each time I respond to someone who’s being pissy, I think of you.  Often, I think those that are throwing verbal darts are pissed that something is happening in his/her world that they are not in control of….work….spouse…..kids….money…..

Just a hunch.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?  Family?  In-Laws?  Friends?  Working?  Does your family have an odd tradition when it comes to these meals?  My Mom always made a weird jello salad of some sort.  Ever had the cole slaw one in green jello?  How about the one my Sis and I refer to as ‘Space Jello’.  It doesn’t really have a name….lime jello, cream cheese and pineapple.  Yup.  Don’t let it touch the mashed potatoes or it will melt and make your ’taters green.

….to golf.  Good lord.  It’s October, soon it’ll be time to put the clubs away….and, the motorcycle.  Not sure which I’m more disappointed over.  Up until this point in life, it was just the bike I’d be disappointed over.  Now, I’m going to have to travel somewhere warm this winter…TO GOLF…..ohmigod.  I’m a dude.

 I have to admit thought, I do love this season.  love fall.  I love the smell of fireplaces.  Not many places you can burn leaves anymore.  I suppose you could, it’s just dealing with the authorities when they arrive:)

 Thanks for all of your pet stories yesterday.  Even the sad ones.

This morning I received a sad email from a dear friend.  I’m not going to include the email itself, cause that wouldn’t be terribly cool….the reason he’s upset, one of his pets died this morning.  He’s had her since 1991.  The super hard part, he was with her when she died.  I feel so bad for him.  They become such, a furry, fun, pain-in-the-ass, part of your family.  She hasn’t been well lately, but, you always hope they’ll get thru it.  He watched her die a natural death.  I feel weird even typing that. 

I’ve played Dr. Kevorkian to three different cats over the years.  All three were old and frail little critters by the time it came to that point.  Feels like the ultimate betrayal to take something you love and ‘put it down’.  Pretty shi**y feeling. 

Some people, after a pet dies, won’t ever replace them.  Like The Mom.  After she put her dog down, she swore she’d never have another animal….we suggest it to her from time to time and it’s still a ‘no’.  The reason, she doesn’t want to go through having to put another animal to ’sleep’. 

Imagine all the fun you’re missing if you don’t get another animal.  They’re sooo much fun…..the way cats leave coughed up furballs that you step on in bare feet, first thing in the morning…..the way that some dogs devour furniture…..the cat who thinks the screen door and curtains are monkey bars…..the occasional ’surprise’ on the living room floor…..all kidding aside, life’s too short to not have something that’s furry and fun.
