Temporary Vegetarian
Today, I’ll be a temporary vegetarian….I’m sure you’ve had this moment occur….traveling on the highway alongside a truck destined for the slaughterhouse. Sometimes, I try to convince myself that, maybe, the animals are headed to a new home…but, we know where they are really headed…..truck drivers used to refer to them as ‘barn yards’ if memory serves. I saw a pair of big, brown eyes peering at me through one of the many holes this morning….I think it’s tofu for lunch today….don’t tell the Dad though, he’s a retired farmer. I’d never hear the end of it:)
What are your plans for the weekend? If you have yet to take vacation, I hope it’s coming soon for you. This weekend it’s a patio or two, my nephew’s bday party and maybe a little extra sleep. I’m compiling a list of ‘Toronto Summer Time Killers’ for the tv version of the Jack Nation Countdown. What are your fave summer time killers? Patio’s….Canada’s Wonderland….hit the links? What do you like to do when time allows and the weather is right?
This weekend on the tv version of the Jack Nation Countdown, we have tickets for the Metal Masters tour. Judas Priest is headlining that show. The radio version of the countdown is about a rite of passage - summer camp….not band camp…..although, that would’ve been funnier.
Have a terrific weekend. Sexy bingo is coming up before two and we’ll see what other kinds of trouble we can get into….use the bonus code ‘cows’ for some extra Jack Nation points.
Thanks for stopping by!

There is no better time killer then heading down to the Rogers center to see a ball game with a hotdog in hand of course. It’s much better in person than on TV. It costs more (obviously) but is worth doing at least a few times each summer.
My 3 1/2 year old daughter and I are going tomorrow to see the Jays and Yankees. She is so excited about going down with Dad. I am too. We’re taking the subway which adds to her day. It will be the first time for her on the “train under the ground”.
and I can’t wait to see her face when she gets to run the bases after the game.

Good afternoon Sam,
The summer brings with it patio season.
At home or at a bar nothing beats a few cold ones with
friends and family.
Cheers,
Bronco Bill

I know how you feel Sam, I feel the same way when a truck carrying all the little piggies and you see their wee little snouts taking a deep breath and I feel just terrible. You wish they were going to the promise land, but sadly it ain’t so.
Busy weekend pour moi, I’m playing in the “Heatwave” volleyball tourney at the Beaches - 8 games Saturday, 4 games Sunday, then softball Sunday night. I should be ruined by Monday.
Enjoy the weekend, and stay cool!

And your secrets safe, I won’t tell your dad if you don’t tell BFF Shelley or her hubby who’s a also a farmer that I feel guilty. Her youngest, a girl who’s 9, declared at the age of 3 that she’s won’t eat animals, she can’t eat pets. She LOVES animals. My friend of course doesn’t see the logic in it, and tries everything, and I tell her, you can’t force it, she doesn’t want to eat meat. The girl is probably 5′ 3″ at 9 and skinny - a super model in training…

This one’s for Sam;
If it’s time that you wish to be wasting,
And veggies that you like to be tasting.
Then kick back you heels,
And eat’s what you feels.
But throw a big bloody steak on the barbie for me…and get me another beer, will’ya hun…
[bless ya, I love ya darlin’…hey, little jimme, stop playing with that lighter near the propane, eh?]
