Yay for Fridays!!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

This week has blown by….last night we were out at Absolute Comedy.  It on Yonge just north of Eg, where the old Yuk Yuk’s used to be…..I forgot how much fun it is to watch stand-up.  If you’re looking for a fun, inexpensive night out, absolutecomedy.ca

Are you a movie-goer?  Are there any big summer flicks you’re looking forward to seeing?  Iron Man….The Hulk…..Speed Racer?  I’m compiling a list to send over to the tv folks for the Jack Nation countdown on Saturday.  Lemme know what you think.

We’ll be out on location this weekend on two occasions.  Tonight, I’ll be at Cellcom in the Erin Mills Town Centre from 6 -9pm.  Tomorrow, I’m at Sherway Gardens from 11-3 at another Cellcom location.  If you’ve been waiting to upgrade or get a new Blackberry or similar device, there should be some great deals on, so tune in to see.  If you get a chance, pop by, we’re giving out bonus codes and we also have a draw for a stay at Taboo resort.

Don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday…..it’s not the gift that’s difficult to get or decide upon…it’s the friggin’ cards!  Especially. if you leave it too long and their all picked over and messed up in the little card holder thingamajigs.  Use the word ‘card’ as a bonus code at some point over the weekend.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

 Thanks for stopping by!

A great reason to run……

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Hi Samantha,

Kelly has mentioned your name to me a few times in our training sessions on Saturday mornings.  It is great to finally get a chance to tell you about Sophie’s Run (www.sophiesrun.ca).  Sophie’s Run is an awareness campaign for Colorectal Cancer.  I lost my mom, Sophie Chuchmach, to this disease in September of 2006.  During my mom’s illness, I became her primary caregiver.  As a way to cope with my grief, I began to run.  Running became my release and today it plays an instrumental role in my healing process.  As I try to come to terms with the loss of my mom, I have made it my mission to spare other’s of the pain my family and I went through.  Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in our country and the numbers will continue to rise if awareness and education is not created.  For this event, I have partnered with the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada.  On September 1, 2008, myself and the Sophie’s Run team (3 other runners) will leave Milton, ON and run to New York City over 8 weeks.  I am hoping that you may be interested in helping to raise awareness for Sophie’s Run and Colorectal Cancer.
Thank you,
Nicole Chuchmach

What a lovely way to honor someone’s memory…quite the endeavour.  Good luck to you and your companions, Nicole.  We’ll be cheering for you!

Use ’sophiesrun’ for some extra JN points, and visit the site if you get a chance.

Thanks for stopping by.

An email from a dear friend…..

billito.jpgHey babe!
So how’s ewe? I was reading you blog and noticed that folks are starting to realize that you ride.  well here’s a story that might be blog worthy.  Please edit at will, and there is a part where I need input……

Samantha, what can I say….. All I remember is that here was this sheepish little girl, looking at her boots, ( yes, heels even then, kids) outside a motorcycle dealership in Calgary looking to buy a motorcycle.  We got to talking, she told me what she wanted, I advised her on her options, and then she went in and bought something too small.  “Too small?” you ask?  No, not in stature, but in power.  She had made the classic mistake of thinking she would not take to this sport and got herself a “learner” sport-bike, a piddley little Kawasaki Ninja (if I can use that term here, considering the displacement) 250.  Yes folks, a 250.  Which she promptly BLEW UP.  Ooos and Awws ensued, until the dealer finally decided to give the Loud Girl associated with local radio a credit on perhaps a larger displacement machine.  Which just so happened to be………..(  insert bike here, I forget…..).  Many weeks of joyful riding went buy until she saw what she knew she always wanted, her true love.  A Real SPORTSBIKE!  A suzuki GSX-FRICKIN-R600, cheep! in the bike trader!  Joy of Joys!  Well, we went and looked at that badboy and she needed to have it (at this point in her life, Sam was quite single……).  So she ponies up the cash, gets her new baby and she and I promptly get on with teaching her how to do wheelies.  Note to the reader, Big sexy boots with Heels are not really the best things to pull big monos with……. just saying….  Anyhoo, I doubt that she was ever into big one wheel action (insert your own joke here) but I know that she loved FAST.  Just ask the Calgary cops, I know we got pulled WAY more times than we got tagged.  Good thing she had a cute smile, I blame it on her.

Oh yea, Sam, If you ever get back in this end of the country, I think I owe you a rear tire and possibly a drink…. or twelve…….

Your buddy, pal. compadre,
Bill
aka Dizzy

…….ah Billito….how I miss you guys…..I loooove your new bike…..that is my dream ride……maybe next season….use Billito as a bonus code for this weekend.

I won’t be updating my blog this weekend….I’m leaving for Halifax this afternoon.  Have a terrific weekend!
