It’s time to start the music…..
I’m in the process of collecting some audio for the Jack Nation Countdown this weekend. I don’t have the top 20 yet, but, I usually try to work a little ahead with it all. If you have yet to hear it, I always run a theme within the countdown. Last weekend it was ‘Hot Rock Stars’….literally, we included stories of rock stars who had been hurt through the use of pyrotechniques in shows…..we’ve covered ‘Songs with f-bombs’ and all kinds of fun stuff. This weekend, we’re going to revisit one of my fave all time shows. The Muppets. I’m setting a couple of links here on the page to youtube for you to check out. Gawd…..I still get such a kick out of them:) Did you? Who was your favorite guest? Alice Cooper? Anne Murray? Paul Simon? Kenny Rogers? The guest line up they had over the years was crazy stacked…..between Sesame Street and The Muppets, you as an entertainer, knew you had made it if you appeared on either show.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Muppets. I watch their cartoon series, the Muppet Babies, when I was younger. My favorite is Animal.
If they’re still doing shows and doing live shows, you should totally do a promotion for them. I’d love to see them live.

Boy that brings back memories. Who didnt love the muppets! I remember my son when he was 4 laughing his head off to Monsterpiece Theater Upstairs, Downstairs. He is 26 now and he basically laughs at the same kind of stuff. Eventually we had to tape it, so he could watch it over and over again. My favourite muppet was the Swedish Chef. Thanks, Sam

We were watching “The Sound of Music” and one of my fave Muppet segments came back to me. Julie Andrews starts to sing “The hills are alive…” and promptly gets chased off-stage by hills that are… well, alive!
Classic, even if my kids thought I was nuts for breaking into a giggle-fit in the middle of the movie!

There were just so many classic moments in that show… Gonzo, Fozzie, Dr Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker, Statler and Waldorf… I never missed it as a kid.
One thing that really stuck with me for some unknown reason was the possums doing Buffalo Springfield’s ‘For what its worth’. To this day, every time I hear that song, I can’t help but think of the hunters running back and forth whooping it up.

The Muppet Show remains one of my all time favourite shows! Waldorf & Statler, the Mad Bomber, Lew Zealand and his boomerang fish, just classic. Oh, and who can forget “Wayne and Wanda” twirling around the dance floor!
There were many great guest stars over the years - ahh, those were the days.

Cooper as the best guest, and the Grumpy old men/the mad bomber; it’s a tossup.
We still do the swedish chef bits at work, just for a giggle if it’s getting a bit tense in the room.
Works every time!
PLAY!

Hi Sam. The Muppets were a great show.
I saw that you mentioned Anne Murray.
My father drove her in his airline taxi from the airport.
My father was real nice to her.
Did you know she did not even give him a tip!
