bonus codes…..

I hope you are enjoying your weekend….I have the countdown code in a moment.

Getting LOTS of email about the points ‘blast’ that I do from time to time.  Some are from people happy about scoring the extra points, some are indifferent to the whole points thing……..some of those emails are complaints about the length of time and the fairness of the contest?   I’ll post a them all.  Click on the ‘comments’ section to see what I’m talking about.  As far as fairness goes, it’s EXACTLY the same as any other contest….the window is just smaller for time with these.  What about a contest that requires you to be caller number ‘blank’?  You can’t always be near a phone….it’s the same concept.  I thought it was kind of a nice way to throw out some extra points from time to time.  I suppose I could just stop doing it.  That would eliminate the negative emails…but, there are lots of people who appreciate the extra points and, after all, it is just a game……

 Have a nice weekend.

The bonus code for the radio countdown is ‘fbomb’.

Sam

btw….the extra bonus code from the tv countdown is ‘wild’.

    Sam,

I can’t believe all the complaints you got. You try to do something nice and this is what you get?

People, get a grip. This is a RADIO station. There should be advantages for those who are actually LISTENING to the station. The code was posted on the website as a courtesy, not an obligation. That you missed hearing it because you were not LISTENING to the station when it was announced, for whatever reason, or because you did not read the COURTESY website posting within allotted time, is your own tough luck. Too bad - move on!

I was at my desk having lunch (no time to eat out like some of you - what’s that like?) so admittedly did catch these bonus points (didn’t other times I understand they were offered because I missed hearing them - too bad for me on those - no need to pass any kleenex).

Jack does not owe you squat, except to play great tunes of course. Anything else you get is a bonus and if you grasp that you’ll realize you have nothing to complain about.

Sam, keep doing what you’re doing. I’m sure most do appreciate it.

Hey Sam.. I appreciate your points-blast- so a big THANK YOU from me. I don’t understand why the f**k people would complain.. tell them to get a life! Thanks again and have a fantastic weekend.

Seems the people complaining have regular jobs and get paid accordingly. I have cashed in on most but not all Samantha’s special giveaways. I would rather change my points for a regular paycheque, so people be thankful. The first time I was home shoveling snow and there is no way I could turn my computer on and long into Jack in 5 minutes, but so go it. Please don’t stop, the special ponts make my day, especially when I get them. One day I may even win something!

So redeem yourself and give us another chance.

Sam….I can’t believe the cry babies blasting you about this……tell them to go get some points at Q107! Keep up the good work and ignore them!

    Hey Sam,

I’m in the middle of watching the countdown on City when I remembered to check out your blog and comment on how nice you look. Re: the last comment I left about the floppy clothes.

Anyway, I was only able to take part in one points-blast thing, but I wish I was able to do more. I have more than 250,000 points and I haven’t found anything worth my time to bid for or anything to come all the way down to the Rogers store to pick up. I think if merchandise or tickets were sent to my house, then I–and maybe more people–would “buy” into it. Just a thought. I find travelling downtown a hassle I can do without.

Have a great weekend and I’ll have an extra cold one for you. :)

  8. RUDY Says:

just keep it up, who care if some people can’t get the extra pionts.

  9. AC Says:

Frankly, it does not matter what you do. It is human nature to complaint one way or the other. I missed it too and it’s just a game. I don’t care if I’m 5K points short.

I agree with you in theory Sam, but realistically the odds of winning a prize with the bonus codes are far less than call in contests. (which usually occur in specific time frames). I recently magically actually got 1 prize from the vault, after sitting for an hour and refreshing the page. I have actually been in the “middle” of getting a prize (ready to check out) and by the time the page comes up the prize is SOLD OUT (I can’t tell you how many times this has occurred, but 99% sounds about right). To top that off while I was picking up my one lucky item - there was a guy there picking up 4 Jack “prize vault” items at the same time. That really seemed unfair! Perhaps he has a faster computer or 2 computers or works in IT. Anyway there should be limits to amount of prizes ONE person can get - at least in a particular week. Until that happens, I’d rather see call in contests - they give everyone the same leverage, and more people have access to a phone e.g.. cells- even in their cars, far easier than a computer, that was my beef with the “points” window.

  11. Dennis MacIntyre Says:

I work 10-12 hours a day, and usually take a power nap, once i do get home. So by the time I get to the computer, to load the bonus codes and 9-2-5 songs, your little window is over, and i dont get “the codes” points.

The Game sorta caters to either people with no life, stay at home, or rich yuppies, with laptops and wireless connections. Us working class, one of which I am who drive around all day, with no access to internet, lose out on this Game. Where is the fairness.

BTW, I’m Still in “luv” with your afternoon Skitt. Keep up the good work there !!!

I must admit that when I initially read your “A Little Something” entry I was pissed off and felt like writing a comment complaining how unfair it was (that some people got 5000 points and not others).
I now realize that I was only mad AT MYSELF for missing out on a whole wack of points. I think its really cool that you go out of your way to help people get some extra points (and have called you a couple of times for the morning bonus code). Whatever you decide to do with your point give-aways is OK with me (I just hope I can get in on it from time to time.) ;)

  15. Shawn Says:

Hi Sam, When they started this loyalty/points program one of the selling points was that you would never have to be caller number whatever again. So maybe the limited time offer kinda defeats the purpose?
It would be fairer if these opportunities were available at other times through the day so people like me (who are away from a computer when your show is on) would have the opportunity to get those extra points too.

  16. John karek Says:

    Sam,

It is now a couple of times, I have been in my car when you gave out the 5000 point bonus code, and by the time I got to a computer I missed getting the points………..so, in my opinion, it SUCKS!

    Cheers,

  17. John karek Says:

I just re-read your Blog, and one of the reasons i like jack is because the points thing seems fair, I don’t want to call in. The point is, that i listen, and rarly call for the codes. if you are putting a timeframe on things during work hours, you are not allowing people that cannot get to their PC;s a fair chance.

  18. john Daniel Says:

I remember that one day I was lucky enough at that moment to get 10,000 points. It`s a contest that requires luck just like other contests. keep having fun Sam. Cheers.

this sunday is bachelors day. lets all get involved and celebrate.
    (mothers day > Sunday )
    (Fathers day > Sunday )
(Bachelors day > Palm Sunday )

sam keep it up, sometimes im home and grab the points sometimes im working and i dont , thats life. your doing a great job. mike

  20. April Says:

    Hi Sam,

You can only please some of the people, some of the time, so don’t sweat it. As far as I’m concerned you’re great and JACK FM wouldn’t be a great radio station without you and the TV show definitley wouldn’t be such a success if you weren’t the host!! Keep doing what you’re doing as you can’t please everyone, and the ones that you do , LOVE YA!!

  21. Carol Says:

Hey Sam, I didn’t get the 5000 bonus points, but I don’t care - I still appreciate that you give out 250 bonus points! Especially cuz you don’t have to. Plus, they add up in the end.

I hope you give out another points blast code soon, but if you don’t, I still enjoy reading your blog, so keep it up.

    Thanks!

  22. Donald Says:

I have a question for those who bitch about not getting the bonus points that Sam gives away from time to time:

    Who died in the incident?

  23. Mike Says:

Ahh keep it up Sam. don’t listen to us if we wine & complain. If we get it we get it if we don’t “Too Bad…So Sad”. Just remember when it’s all said and done We luv ya. (now where did I leave my beer) LOL

  24. ironjoe Says:

donald “the duck” died cuz he crossed the wrong lane…iron maiden kicks ass…

  26. vickum Says:

OK people, we are never happy creatures - it’s too cold or too much snow, too humid or too smoggy, rainy, pricey etc.
What about those who won millions in lottery…
Who should we send whining emails to?

    P.S. Don’t need Cleenex now.

  27. mike Says:

    Hi Sam,

I think it’s a great idea, it’s the extra thanks for listening or reading the blog at that particular time of the day.
If you are fortunate enough to score the points, excellent. If not keep trying.

It’s like playing the jack draws!

    Keep up the excellent work…….
