Mnemonics are often verbal, something such as a very short poem or a special word used to help a person remember something, particularly lists….they were helpful early on during grade school while trying to remember a series of things.  I used them in music class….All Good Boys Deserve Fudge (musical notes A, G, B, D, F).  I recall one for the rainbow light spectrum.  ‘Roy G. Biv…..red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.  Did you have one for our solar system too?  ‘My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas.’….Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.  That one has to be updated now with the ‘demotion’ of Pluto and the addition of Eres and Ceres.  The old science project for our solar system seems to be getting more complicated:)  No matter, my fave was always the exploding volcano anyway:)

 I think if you made the mnemonics ‘r-rated’ kids would remember all they were supposed to memorize!!  Do you recall what ‘Adidas’ stood for?  All Day I Dream About Sex!!  It’s funny what one recalls from childhood….read on for proof and when you’re done enter adidas for some extra Jack Nation Points!

What ever happened to Cpt Caveman?  The Schmoo…..I think I have to subscribe to the cartoon network:)  It was a tradition in our family to watch Saturday afternoon cartoons, as well…..if you grew up in this area, you might recall Bugs, The Roadrunner, Porky Pig et al being on Saturday afternoons….Sunday evening it was ‘the Wonderful World of Walt Disney’….the only time that we were able to have dinner in front of the tv on our little tv trays:)  Okay, enough with the flashback:)

I’m off to do some wedding stuff with the sis, bottle a little wine, order the wedding bands, pick up the invites….then later, I’ll have to sample the wine.  It’s important to make sure it’s okay for everyone to drink, right??:)

Congrats if you managed to get some extra points on Friday with the ‘points blast’….and yes, we know they are for short peroids and they are also pretty random…..not everyone can get them each time, but, we’ll rotate when we do them.  So for those of you who are pissed about missing it, next time….good luck.

 It’s not quite 9am, so I can’t put the code up for the tv countdown yet.  The show is set to run at 1pm on city tv…..it was supposed to start running at 4pm today.  No clue why the switch didn’t occur.  We have tickets for the Foo Fighters March 22nd show to give away today.  I’ll post that code later or tomorrow.

 At a high school in Montana, a group of students let three goats loose in the school hallways.  Before they let the goats loose, they painted the numbers 1, 2, and 4 on the sides of the goats.
 
School administrators spent the rest of the day and evening looking for goat number 3.

I’m saving my ‘Family Day’ for July or August…..it’s a regular day for us here at Jack.  It’s like a ghost town in the hallways.  Our affiliates are all off for the holiday, so it’s pretty quiet in the halls.  I suppose there are some benefits to working holidays……traffic is tolerable, parking is available, waaay less email and phone interruption, no one is heating up their ‘fish lunch’ in the microwave….you even have time to update your blog:)

Alberta’s been celebrating ‘Family Day’ since 1990.  When I lived out west, I thought it was a great idea.  A day off between New Year’s and Good Friday.  The day was created by Don Getty, the Premier of Alberta at the time.  His son, Dale, was involved in a drug scandal.  He was arrested for possession of cocaine, and turns out had a penchant for cocaine.   Premier Getty was embarrassed by the whole situation and felt responsible for his son’s problems.  He felt he had neglected his family and thought Albertans should have this day to spend with their family.

 Here’s hoping your ‘Family Day’ is a good one.  Use the term ‘fam’ for some extra Jack Nation Points.

Have cancelled….wow….too bad.  We had the news delivered late this morning that the guys are unable to make it to a private performance that we had set up in the Jack theatre.  Our sincerest apologies for those of you who had planned a Friday evening event out of this.  Word is, one of the guys is ill….here’s hoping our promo department has been able to contact each of you.  We’re pretty disappointed too, but, under the circumstances not a lot we can do. 

 I’ll update this blog at some point tomorrow with the extra bonus code from the Jack Nation Countdown.  The radio version has an extra 1000 points.  The tv version….we have Iron Maiden tix…..good luck.  The tv countdown is on City TV at 1pm.  I’ll update this one before I head out tomorrow…..going to bottle some wine:)  and…..now it seems I have a Friday night to fill…..off to make plans!
