Denny’s RECAP :: UPDATE

April 10th, 2008 by rob.michaels

Ok, so one of my first blogs found here, was about Denny’s taking away my Mini Burgers from their menu.  I went to Denny’s, tried to get some Mini Burgs however much to my surprise, they were taken off the menu.  As a fan of said lunch, dinner and/or breakfast, I decided to email Denny’s….This is what I wrote.
Picture this…A batter at the plate, full count, bottom of the ninth. One solo home run would ensure the batter and his team victory. He steps up and swings at a quick fastball. You hear the crack of the bat as the ball raises high into the sky, then all of a sudden, the tv station your watching cuts away to an Oprah promo. Just as he was about to hit the homerun, the tv station cuts to something else.

This is how I feel about the absence of the Mini Burgers at Denny’s. Once a week I would stop at Denny’s and enjoy a miniature burger topped with nothing but mustard and onions.Oh did I mention those are my 2 favorite condiments? Just as I was starting to create a following of other mini burg enthusiasts, you took them away. Why? I went to Denny’s in January looking to sit down and enjoy numerous burgers, however I had to try and enjoy one singular burger…the horror.

I looked around for Ashton Kutcher, I thought perhaps there was a camera crew around each corner just waiting to bust out and tell me I was being punked. All I want to know is why…why have you taken my mini burgers away? Will they be back? I really look forward to your reply!

Kind regards…but kinder if I could taste one more mini burger,
Rob

And for those of you who are fans of the Mini Burgers from Denny’s, I finally got a reply almost 2 months later, I got a response!  This was the response…
Thank you for contacting Denny’s.  From time to time the menu will be changed to introduce new entrées on our menu for our customers to enjoy.  I’m sorry that one of your favorites is no longer available.  This entrée may return to the menu at a later time.

Your comments have been documented and forwarded to the appropriate department for review.  We appreciate your feedback and look forward to serving you again real soon!

I guess I don’t really need the greasy, fattening mini burgers, but while my metabolism is at a steady high level, all I want is to experience one last Denny’s mini burger…please!  No games in the blog today, here is our bonus code straight up…Denny’s

Family Guy…A-Ha

April 10th, 2008 by rob.michaels

I’ve told you many times before that one of my favorite music videos is A-Ha’s Take On Me.  It was amazing for it’s time, mixing real life action blending in with cartoon action…simply amazing.  Well the hit cartoon Family Guy did a little spoof on it and it’s pretty funny! Enjoy

More shows

April 3rd, 2008 by rob.michaels

Seems like whenever I get tickets for a show, I end up wanting to go to other shows around the same time.  I went to see the Foo Fighters last Sunday and tonight I’m off to see Eddie Vedder kick off his solo acoustic tour in support of the Into the Wild Soundtrack.  As I’ve posted before, Into the Wild is my favorite book of all time and I enjoyed the music in the movie.  Also, being a guy who likes to play guitar, I love going to see acoustic shows.

In other news…my parental units are coming out for a visit.  I’m obviously excited to see them as it’s been almost a year.  They live in Ontario and have been here once before about 4 years ago so I’m excited to show them around.  A day in Whistler, a weekend in Victoria and whatever else I can think of to keep them busy.  Any suggestions…leave a comment.
Finally, my good friend and hottest former Mountain FM’er Rebecca Hall has her own blog set up.  You should check it out for juicy stories about Mikey Ciccone and much much more.  Actually if you go to her blog, you will find your bonus code for today!!
Enjoy and much love

The Celebrity Birthday of the Day…and much more

April 1st, 2008 by rob.michaels

It’s no April Fools Joke.  The Sea to Sky School of the Day has turned into the Celebrity Birthday of the Day.  Listen at all the same times, 7:50am, 10:50am, 1:50pm and 4:50pm for the announcment of our Celebrity Birthday of the Day.  Plug it into the Goldmine to get your daily dose of bonus points.

On Saturday a bunch of Gold Diggers went paintballing and it was pandamonium.  We met in the parking lot at Whistler and hopped into a bus that took us to Whistler Paintball which is a short drive north from all the parking lots.

We had a big crew and it was a ton of fun.  Except….I guess we picked a bunch of hardcore people to go paintballing with.  We showed up to guys and gals dressed in full camo gear and their own equipment.  One guy had a sniper paintball rifle.  HARD CORE  It was really cool.

picture3.jpgHere Jon Rees is pretending to shoot me in the head while we are getting briefed on the rules and regulations.  A few hours later, he did it for real.  I was on the run to get some cover when all of a sudden my vision was tainted by a dripping purple paint.  He got me straight in between the eyes…he apparently has an amazing shot as I was about 50 feet away from him.

Ahhh, the advantages of being a Gold Digger.  If you haven’t signed up yet, what the heck are you waiting for.

Click on Gold Mine, sign up and good luck!

I can’t wait to go paintballing again, we had a great time and I am going to have to plot my paint revenge on Jon Rees for his good aim….jerk!  The italics word gets you points

Tired…Wrong…Oasis

March 31st, 2008 by rob.michaels

I just woke up from what seemed like a 18 hour nap.  It was more like 3 hours, but well deserved.  I went to see the Foo Fighters last night which kept me up until 1am.  Three short hours later, the alarm went off and it’s time for work.  Amazing show though, unbelievable.   One of the best Foo shows I’ve seen in forever.  Anyways…I was told by our impatient web nerds to post something of value on here and today, I actually have something valuable for you.
A NEW WAY TO EARN POINTS EVERY MORNING
yup!  A brand new game every morning at 6:40am, it’s the wrong game.  You can be a contestant, anyone can and it’s really easy to earn 1000 points.  Basically you have 15 seconds to answer 5 questions, but you have to give the wrong answer.  Sounds easy?? Well it is.  There’s no catch, if you can give the wrong answer to each question within 15 seconds, you win 1000 points for the goldmine.  I’ll open up the phone lines at around 6:35 each morning, if you’re up for the Wrong Game Challenge, you could get more points.  Check it out tomorrow, it’s fun because sometimes it’s harder to give the right answer than the wrong answer….whatever that means

Oasis was announced this morning, they are coming to GM Place on August 27th and tickets go on sale this Friday.  Mountain FM wants to help you beat the box office so starting on Wednesday we are calling up gold diggers who entered and giving them tickets!  If you want to beat the box office and go see one of the biggest bands of the 90’s, enter through the goldmine and listen each morning starting on Wednesday.

So with that said, I’m off to make some hamburger helper and I’ll talk to you in the morning.  Sorry for the lack of posts, but I’ll explain that in tomorrows blog!!! And since I’ve been slacking, a huge Blog Bonus Code for tomorrow
Niteynite fellow radio dwellers, much love

Baseball is Back

March 26th, 2008 by rob.michaels

Well before we get to the baseball video, the Whistler Paintball weekend with the Adventure Team and Gold Diggers is coming up this weekend.  That should be a lot of fun!  I’ll try to get some pics while dodging some balls of paint.  Paintball will get you extra points in the goldmine until midnight tonight.
Now, on to baseball, one of the best highlights I’ve ever seen is already out.  I’m a little disappointed that no one will beat this highlight all year…what do you think?

Whistler RCMP need your help…

March 25th, 2008 by rob.michaels

Not a regular weblog today. Instead we’re going to pass along a message from the RCMP. We have a snowboarder missing on the mountain or likely somewhere in Whistler. Ai Ito from Japan is 25 and was last seen heading for a solo run from Seventh Heaven. That was at about 11:30 in the morning on Thursday. RCMP and Search and Rescue are out looking for her and they believe she’s still in the area.

She’s five feet tall, slim, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a white snowboarding jacket, teal-coloured snowboard pants and possibly a green toque.

Anyone seeing Ito or anyone with any information about her disappearance is asked to please contact Whistler RCMP immediately at 604-932-3044

I’m going to see the Foo’s next weekend and Rush in May, but wow!  What a great show that must have been in Toronto.  There are tons of videos showing up on youtube, here is one of them…
some strong language

2) Today is the day I’ve been waiting for since halloween: half-priced Easter candy!

3) 24 cm’s of new snow in the past 24 hours!  I was talking with some people the other day who asked, “do you think we’re done with snow this year, or will we get another dump?”  Well I think we’re back to a few full days of a lot of snow fall.  Get a good base going for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard festival which is only 3 weeks away now.  Can’t wait!  Check the goldmine for some swag that you can win from the Festival
