CHEZ NATION I NEED YOU….
To help end an argument between my girlfriend and I. At the Mellencamp show she saw what she thought was one of the lights on FIRE! I saw something weird going on in the light but told her not to worry it was probably a reflection off of the stage. To prove it to her I took the above pictures. I still say it’s a reflection she still says it’s fire.
(on a side note both of us both agree that I had probably had a few too many pints to take a clear picture and she’s hoping this will end it once and for all so that I’ll stop making fun of her by telling people that we all nearly died at Mellencamp because of the fire on the stage.)

Mmmm. Looks like Jupiter.

Definitely a fire. It’s not uncommon at shows where the lights are on for that long. I’ve been at three shows in different venues where the lights have caught fire. The housing is made out of flame-proof metal, it’s just the gels that light up… a little smoke for ya to get high off of - that’s the only danger

Come on , tell the truth That’s a reflection of you streaking . Definatly not fire my wife says your not that hot .

fire, Fire, FIRE
February 5th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
I use to work with stage lights and, like someone posted before, it could have been the gel getting too hot and starting to burn. There wouldnt have been an actual flame, but more of a melting action with some smoke. Not a good thing, but definatly not the light catching fire.

Are you sure you guys were at the concert,,Looks like a DISCO ball to me
February 5th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
I definitely see an arm and a guitar in there. Was Mellancamp on fire?
February 5th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
I’m not totally sure, but I think it’s a relection of something…almost lookes like a goldfish in a bowl with a verticle blind in front of it with a “distortion” effect or some kind of light refraction. But it might also be that gel that’s doing it’s burning-melting thing, again, I strongly doubt that it would “project” itself on the stage?

You could have told us that it was a picture of a UFO and some of us would have beelived it LOL.

Sorry bud, definitely looks like a small fire. Played around with the pics, changing colours, sharpness etc., and it looks like a flame. You’d better start sucking up to the woman NOW dude!!!

Hey Robin,
The light is not on fire. just looks like a cool light show. I’m glad that the show was excellent.

Doesn’t look like fire to me. Didn’t see any fire on Saturday, but the concert was hot … hot … hot!
Tom Cochrane … John Mellenkamp! Does it get any better than that? (Well, okay, add Springsteen and it could get better!)

Hi Robin,
Not sure it looks like fire. On the other hand what would it be a reflection of.
Readiing the other comments, I vote……FIRE!
We are right some of the time!!!!

February 7th, 2008 at 10:06 am

February 8th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
It definitely looks like a reflection to me. By the way, how was the show ? We saw John Mellencamp twice on the Lonesome Jubilee tour and his shows were nothing short of amazing back then anyway.
February 8th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
can’t say it was much of a fire…sorry. but the show was just amazing!!!! totally tops…
February 9th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Looks like a reflection. I’d have known better if I had won tickets to the show like I tried to do.
February 11th, 2008 at 8:38 am
Doesn’t look like a fire to me………could be the bulb getting ready to blow?????
February 11th, 2008 at 10:56 am
Whether or not it was fire or a reflection is not important. Don’t you know you’re not supposed to argue with your girlfriend. If she says she saw fire you say “YES DEAR”
February 11th, 2008 at 11:25 am
what is wrong with this picture?
February 11th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
It was fire.
