Before I went to university, I had a crummy job at a factory, and switching from days to nights every week. On once particularly scary occasion, I woke up in the driveway of my house, with absolutely no recollection of driving home. I could remember walking out of the factory, and getting into my car...and then...opening my eyes. The car was in park, but still running. I resolved at that moment to go to school, get a degree, and never do shiftwork again. Powerful motivation. Sleep deprivation is scary indeed.
