“Willie” Griffin Remembered…

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Hi. Rich here. Just a quick thanks to all those who took time to e-mail and call about Willie, my 15 year old cat, who left us this past Easter Monday.

He was the best. A great pet and a great friend. He was the big orange cat, (sort of a ’Morris’ look-a-like), that thought he was a dog, a bird, a fish, a squirrel, etc. He began his life with my wife and I as a rough-around-the-seams kind of alley cat and ended up being a big suck.

Thought I’d share some of the wonderful words I received from listeners….words that have helped me lots during the past few days.

Thanks again,

Rich

Hi Rich,
I am just writing to tell you how very sorry I am about your cat Willie. I
heard you talking about him this morning and I know how you feel. I had to
put one of my cats down last June 25th (ironically my sister’s birthday)
and I miss him terribly. He was 21. He had a stroke and I was sick of
seeing his quality of life slowly diminishing before my eyes. I still have
my other cat, she is 18 and doing well. I know Fuzzy (not very original, I
know) is in a better place, as is Willie and to hear you speak about him
this morning only conveys to your listeners just how much you loved your
cat,how well he was cared for, and the wonderful life he enjoyed with you.
There were tears in my eyes. Again, condolences to you and your wife.

Sincerely, a dedicated listener,
Veronica Weisflock

Hey Rich, you may remember me as one of the winners of the Y&R contest a few years back where we had to play out a scene and I believe I was the last acting out my favorite Victor Newman character., Anyway, I just heard you talk about your beloved cat Wille, and I just want to say thank you for that wonderful story. I have 2 dogs, and have have pets my whole life…I don’t have kids, so to me..these fella’s ARE my children. I know some people don’t understand that but, I was glad to hear you talk so positive about Willie’s life! It helps especially when my brothers 2 dogs, and my mom’s dog we adopted from Pet save have all passed away within the past year..it has been very sad and I am so scared for my oldest boy Zowie who is 12 , a Chow Chow, is getting up there in age as well…well I won’t go on and on, but I just wanted to say thanks, for the uplifting outlook you had this morning!! This is the reason I listen to this station, and this station ONLY! Have a great day!! You never know, you may meet again! God Bless little willie! Rich, you may have seen this before , but if you haven’t..it’s  something that helped me when we lost a loved furry one! http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html (you may need to copy and paste)

Priceless Bridals

Yesterday on air you spoke of the loss of your PET. We know how hard it can be, it’s the exact same as losing a family member.

Our cat was the same as your cat, “Max”  would come running when I would whistle.

We still talk about Max often, he was a big loss.

Debate rages in Quebec over Roy brawl

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

In coffee shops all over Canada the subject of violence in Hockey has become a hot topic.

Now a criminal investigation has been launched into the junior hockey brawl that netted suspensions for former NHL great Patrick Roy and his 19-year-old son. The QMJHL handed a seven-game suspension to Quebec Remparts goaltender Jonathan Roy and five for his father, Patrick.

Are you satisfied with the suspensions handed out so far?

If you have not seen the video of this incident you can see it here. (please note: we feel this is not appropriate for children to view)

Sudbury Road Woes……

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Hi and welcome to our Rich and Gary blog.

Here’s a topic that’s already heated up our listen line (525-7271) and has got people talking all around Sudbury….. The roads. Oh, those roads!! Brutal.  :-(  The snow melts, spring arrives and you hit a pothole that makes you cringe. What can you do? Who do you tell? How do we make our trek to work or around town a little smoother?

Here’s a petition link that was e-mailed to us by an enterprising L.U. student.  Seems like a good place to start…..

Hello, this is Michael Woitowich, a 4th year Commerce student from Laurentian University. Today I started an online petition located here.

Thank You,

Her First Words…

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Here’s a story to make you smile:

From Lisa Koski at Science North……

Hi

My cousin Kerry’s daughter is Emily, and she’s about 9 now. Emily has 2 older brothers. Their mom, Christine, was telling me that when Emily was a baby she spent a lot of time in the car, since Christine had to drive the boys to school and back, and to other lessons, etc. so Emily had to go too.  They always  listen to EZ Rock in the car. Anyhoo, one day, Christine hears a little voice from the back seat say, “I wuv EZ wock…” Those were Emily’s FIRST words!  (Christine realized then that the baby was in the car a bit too much!)

Christine only told me this recently - mainly because she was telling us that Emily was on EZ Rock just before Christmas when her class sang on the radio. (Rich may remember her. Emily is the kid who wanted a real horse for Christmas. All Koskis are critter people…)  This kid is hilarious. One day I went to my aunt’s (her grandmother) place and Emily was sitting at the kitchen table wearing several strings of beaded necklaces and counting change - she was about 3 or 4 at the time - and she turned to me and said “I’m rich AND beautifu!”  Too funny. Her father’s like that too. Doesn’t say much, but when he does, it’s usually really funny.

Anyhoo, thought you guys would get a kick outa that first words story.

Take care,

Lisa
