“Willie” Griffin Remembered…
Sunday, March 30th, 2008Hi. Rich here. Just a quick thanks to all those who took time to e-mail and call about Willie, my 15 year old cat, who left us this past Easter Monday.
He was the best. A great pet and a great friend. He was the big orange cat, (sort of a ’Morris’ look-a-like), that thought he was a dog, a bird, a fish, a squirrel, etc. He began his life with my wife and I as a rough-around-the-seams kind of alley cat and ended up being a big suck.
Thought I’d share some of the wonderful words I received from listeners….words that have helped me lots during the past few days.
Thanks again,
Rich
Hi Rich,
I am just writing to tell you how very sorry I am about your cat Willie. I
heard you talking about him this morning and I know how you feel. I had to
put one of my cats down last June 25th (ironically my sister’s birthday)
and I miss him terribly. He was 21. He had a stroke and I was sick of
seeing his quality of life slowly diminishing before my eyes. I still have
my other cat, she is 18 and doing well. I know Fuzzy (not very original, I
know) is in a better place, as is Willie and to hear you speak about him
this morning only conveys to your listeners just how much you loved your
cat,how well he was cared for, and the wonderful life he enjoyed with you.
There were tears in my eyes. Again, condolences to you and your wife.
Sincerely, a dedicated listener,
Veronica Weisflock
Hey Rich, you may remember me as one of the winners of the Y&R contest a few years back where we had to play out a scene and I believe I was the last acting out my favorite Victor Newman character., Anyway, I just heard you talk about your beloved cat Wille, and I just want to say thank you for that wonderful story. I have 2 dogs, and have have pets my whole life…I don’t have kids, so to me..these fella’s ARE my children. I know some people don’t understand that but, I was glad to hear you talk so positive about Willie’s life! It helps especially when my brothers 2 dogs, and my mom’s dog we adopted from Pet save have all passed away within the past year..it has been very sad and I am so scared for my oldest boy Zowie who is 12 , a Chow Chow, is getting up there in age as well…well I won’t go on and on, but I just wanted to say thanks, for the uplifting outlook you had this morning!! This is the reason I listen to this station, and this station ONLY! Have a great day!! You never know, you may meet again! God Bless little willie! Rich, you may have seen this before , but if you haven’t..it’s something that helped me when we lost a loved furry one! http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html (you may need to copy and paste)

Yesterday on air you spoke of the loss of your PET. We know how hard it can be, it’s the exact same as losing a family member.
Our cat was the same as your cat, “Max” would come running when I would whistle.
We still talk about Max often, he was a big loss.
Take Care Rich
