Robert Plant was born in Birmingham, England on August 20th, 1948. Robert was discovered wailing the blues by veteran session guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones. When Plant recommended his friend John Bonham as the drummer, one of the most successful bands in rock history was born as Led Zeppelin. But the group that started with such force also ended in flames after 12 years, as Bonham’s death from alcohol poisoning in 1980 split the band after nine albums. The remaining members went their separate ways, but Bonham’s death hit Plant particularly hard. Starting his solo career in 1982 with his Zeppelin-like Pictures at Eleven album, Plant would use a slew of great drummers over the next few years, including Phil Collins, Cozy Powell, BarriemoreBarlow and Richie Hayward. Red Rider

Red Rider formed in Toronto in 1976. After a gig at the legendary El Mocombo in 1978, they met Tom Cochrane, who had previously pursued a career as a folk singer. He had even released a solo album called “Hang On to Your Resistance” back in 1974 (to little success). Red Rider took Tom Cochrane on as their frontman and soon the band signed with Capitol Records through a connection of Tom’s, and issued their hit debut single, “White Hot,” in late 1979. Their second album, 1981’s “As Far as Siam”, went platinum and still ranks as their most popular work. It featured the band’s signature song, the Canadian chart-topper “Lunatic Fringe”. Don Henley

Don Henley was born July 22nd, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas. Out of all of the Eagles, Don Henley had the most successful solo career. After the group broke up, Henley released his first solo album, I Can’t Stand Still. Although it wasn’t as successful as an Eagles record, the album performed respectably, launching the number three single “Dirty Laundry” and going gold. Building The Perfect Beast followed two years later and established Henley as a solo star in his own right. Featuring the Top Ten hits “Boys of Summer” and “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” as well as the Top 40 singles “Not Enough Love in the World” and “Sunset Grill,” the album sold over two million copies and stayed on the charts for over a year.
