Robert Plant was born in Birmingham, England on August 20th, 1948. Robert was discovered wailing the blues by veteran session guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones. When Plant recommended his friend John Bonham as the drummer, one of the most successful bands in rock history was born as Led Zeppelin. But the group that started with such force also ended in flames after 12 years, as Bonham’s death from alcohol poisoning in 1980 split the band after nine albums. The remaining members went their separate ways, but Bonham’s death hit Plant particularly hard. Starting his solo career in 1982 with his Zeppelin-like Pictures at Eleven album, Plant would use a slew of great drummers over the next few years, including Phil Collins, Cozy Powell, BarriemoreBarlow and Richie Hayward. What artist was Robert Plant crazy about that led to 1984’s “Honeydrippers Volume One”?

A) Tom Jones

B) Frank Sinatra

C) Elvis Presley

Red Rider formed in Toronto in 1976. After a gig at the legendary El Mocombo in 1978, they met Tom Cochrane, who had previously pursued a career as a folk singer. He had even released a solo album called “Hang On to Your Resistance” back in 1974 (to little success). Red Rider took Tom Cochrane on as their frontman and soon the band signed with Capitol Records through a connection of Tom’s, and issued their hit debut single, “White Hot,” in late 1979. Their second album, 1981’s “As Far as Siam”, went platinum and still ranks as their most popular work. It featured the band’s signature song, the Canadian chart-topper “Lunatic Fringe”. What American T.V. series did the song “Lunatic Fringe” appear in?

Jack Johnson was born May 18, 1975 in Hawaii. Before Jack perfected his rock star ways, he was a champion surfer on the professional route. The sport was second nature to the young Hawaiian native, who began chasing waves as a toddler and, by the age of 17, had become an outstanding athlete on the Pipeline. However, Johnson was also testing other creative outlets — specifically film and music — and a serious surfing accident convinced him to devote more time to those landlocked hobbies. Where did Jack study film?

A) University of Hawaii

B) University of California

The Animals formed in Newcastle, England in 1964. The Animals had their origins in a Newcastle-based group called the Kansas City Five, whose membership included pianist Alan Price, drummer John Steel, and singer Eric Burdon. Price exited to join the Kontours in 1962, while Burdon went off to London. Burdon’s return to Newcastle in early 1963 heralded his return to the lineup. The final member of the combo, guitarist Hilton Valentine, joined just in time for the recording of a self-produced EP under the band’s new name, the Animals. It was incorrectly rumoured that The Animals got their single “House of The Rising Sun” from which artist?

The job that Elvis had looked fun and exciting to young David. A year later, he was picking out tunes, or something like tunes, on a guitar. Before he was a teen, he managed to land his first gig. In 1977, he recorded his debut album, “Out of the Woods” and released it independently. Once he signed a deal with EMI Music Canada, the full-length album was re-released under the new label and hit the market in 1983. The second Wilcox album also arrived the same year. What was the name of that record?

Don Henley was born July 22nd, 1947 in Gilmer, Texas. Out of all of the Eagles, Don Henley had the most successful solo career. After the group broke up, Henley released his first solo album, I Can’t Stand Still. Although it wasn’t as successful as an Eagles record, the album performed respectably, launching the number three single “Dirty Laundry” and going gold. Building The Perfect Beast followed two years later and established Henley as a solo star in his own right. Featuring the Top Ten hits “Boys of Summer” and “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” as well as the Top 40 singles “Not Enough Love in the World” and “Sunset Grill,” the album sold over two million copies and stayed on the charts for over a year. Henley’s third album, 1989’s The End of The Innocence, was his most ambitious record yet, as well as his most commercially successful. What year did the Eagles break up?
