Pain In The Gas
How has the never-ending price fluctuations in gasoline affected your life? Do you drive less? Take public transit more? Ride a bike? Car pool?
Use this bonus code to grab some Jack Nation points: gasoline
PS - Don’t fill up today as gas prices are supposed to go down big time after midnight.
Cheers,
Mike

I’ve used public transit for work for years, but have enjoyed weekend pleasure trips until recently. Even though I drive a 4 cylinder fuel efficient vehicle, high gas prices have made me look at bicycles and motorcycles again. Now to convince ‘the bank’ I NEED a Harley …..

I’ve always enjoyed walking, so if I go to the library in the evening, I hoof it. I walk as much as I can.
Thanks for the head’s up - I got the head’s up last Thursday about the extortionate hike at the pumps, and en route to fill r’up, I heard you say on-air about the prices going up. Good lookin’ out for your listeners Mike, some people may not have known. I had to go to the bbq for my volleyball league (didn’t have to, but the eats were free, so I’m there!), and I told my teammates how much gas was going up, and they SCOFFED at me. That’ll teach them not to listen!

I have to drive long distance to get to work and the gas prices are killing me. The only thing I can do is move closer to work which is not an option. So I have to live with the constant gouging and extortion. The goverment makes more money every time the price goes up so they have no vested interest in stepping in to place even reasonable controls on an industry that is licenced to print money at will.

I definately drive less and try to carpool more.
The whole thing is bloody rediculous. There have been record profits yet there is nothing they can do about it??
They are nothing but crooks.

For about a year now, I’ve driven about 95 km/h on the highway while using cruise control. My fuel economy has gone up from about 35 to 37 miles per gallon to around 41 or higher. Sure, it’ll take me a little longer to get to where I’m going, but that just means I’ll have to leave earlier. I also notice that driving a bit longer means I can listen to Jack FM more now too. Doing all of this keeps me stress free, although there are still some idiots who want to cut me off and not use their turn signals when changing lanes.
