Gary Numan

He was born Gary Anthony James Webb on March 8th, 1958 in London England.  A shy child, music brought him out of his shell and he began playing guitar in his early teens and played in several short-lived bands. Inspired by the amateurism of the punk movement, he joined a punk group called The Lasers in 1976.  In the fall of 1979, Numan’s international hit “Cars” reached the American Top Ten and hit number one in the U.K. The album also became Numan’s second straight British number one. He put together a hugely elaborate, futuristic stage show and went on a money-losing tour, and also began to indulge his hobby as an amateur pilot with his newfound wealth.  In retrospect, Gary had become one of the founding fathers of synth pop and his influence helped usher in the synth pop era on both sides of the Atlantic, especially his native U.K., where he was a genuine pop star and consistent hitmaker during the early ’80s.

What was the name of the album that featured the song “Cars”?

A)  The Tubeway Army

B)  The Pleasure Principle

C)  Replicas

    Hey Mike,

Easy one today. I knew the answer even before I seen the choices. I still own the vinyl record. Cheers. Great talking to you this morning. Yes brampton got snow, there is accumulation and white outs in some areas.

    Sincerely, John D.

    Hi Mike,
I could not find your email address. My comment has nothing to do with your blog…
I heard you talking about high Gas prices this morning ( Friday). For my opinion, as long as people are still idling their cars for up to half an hour in parking lots, Gas prices are still to low.
When I pick up my kids from school, some of the mothers are waiting for a long time, idling their cars, no matter what the temperatures are. That really makes me sick. But maybe even high Gas prices would not stop them…:(
