The Clash
Sunday, January 13th, 2008The Clash formed in London, England in 1976 and over the course of three weekends, the group recorded their debut album. The Clash performed its first concert in the summer of ‘76 opening up for The Sex Pistols and went on to support the Pistols on their notorious Anarchy Tour. Though only three concerts were performed on that tour, it increased the Clash’s profile and the group signed a record contract in February of 1977 with British CBS. The Clash used classic outlaw imagery and positioned themselves as rebels with a cause. Singing about revolution and the working class, they were adventurous, passionate, fiery, political, righteous, and exceptionally talented. For a time, they really did seem like “the only band that mattered”.
Throughout 1977, two members of The Clash were in and out of jail for several minor offences, ranging from vandalism to stealing a pillowcase! For 100 free Jack Nation points, which two members are we talking about?
