Alice Cooper
Wednesday, January 9th, 2008Vincent Damon Fernier was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4th, 1948. But you probably know him better as Alice Cooper, the king of shock rock and the pioneer of a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to disturb. Let’s just say Marilyn Manson ain’t got nothin’ on Alice Cooper. Taking equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock, Alice Cooper created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and huge boa constrictors, all masterminded by the heavily made-up Furnier, who today is a scratch golfer, of all things. While the visuals were extremely important to the group’s impact, the band’s music was very unique too.
