Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008Funny how the mind works sometimes. I was coming home from the hockey game last night when I encountered some traffic cones at the intersections of Frederick and Edna, and Frederick and Bruce. It’s a little off-putting to see the small pylons blocking your path in the wee hours of the morning but I quickly realized they had been set up because some painting had been done to mark the intersections more clearly. Guess the time had come to freshen things up.
As I weaved around the pylons and continued on my way, I couldn’t help but think of the Brady Bunch. Yes, the cheesy 1970’s sitcom. Remember the episode when Greg and Marcia competed for Brady driving supremacy? They slalomed their way through a winding course marked by pylons and had to finish by stopping as close to the final pylon as possible, without upsetting the egg that had been placed on top of it. Greg knocked the egg off the pylon, cracking it, losing the contest, and having to do Marcia’s chores for a week.
I didn’t hit a single pylon on my way through this morning.
