May 13th, 2008 by mbutterly

I soooooo KNEW Matt would choose Shane on The Bachelor finale last night!!! He had it BAD for her from the very first night!! She’s a hot one, that’s for sure!

Were you as surprised as I was though, that Deanne Papas (who was on the last Bachelor with Brad Womack) is going to be The Bachelorette???? It starts next Monday at 10pm…I am soooo going to be all over it! lol

In case you missed it….Ted Danson was in to talk to Erin and Mike this morning…the interview is available for you to see by clicking on his picture on our home page @  www.chfi.com  and BTW…when I was introduced to him, he said “hi…you’re cute”!!!!! Ha….I liked that man before….but now??? I LOVE him!!!!! I’ll take a compliment any way I can get one Baby!!! :)

Weekend recap

May 12th, 2008 by mbutterly

Friday

Met Carl at a glass place after work to look at, and see if,  the thickness of the glass we were ordering to put in our new shower was going to be sufficient….it is.  The place was as Lawrence and Jane in a strip mall on the  north/west corner……I’ve honestly NEVER seen worse parking anywhere in the city. Completely crazy!!!!!

Later that evening, my friend Shelley came over for a visit, and we sat outside in the gazebo, drinking wine, wrapped in blankets while we caught up. I LOVE Shelley….she’s always got a great story for ya, and tons of drama in her life….never a dull moment with one of my oldest and dearest friends.

Saturday

Carl went to London to take his Mom’s best friend (who lives in Burlington) to visit for the day. While he was gone, I did the domestic thing…ya know…laundry, grocery shopping and dusting. I’m not a big duster by nature…that’s ALL Carl at our house, but the drywallers were in again, and it’s unbelievable how much the dust travels around the house.

Went to my Niece Megan’s 13th Birthday Party Saturday evening with my friend Colin, then we went back to wait for Carl (who brought my Mom back from London with him) to come home.

Sunday

Spent the day with my Mom puttering around town shopping… because we LOVE to do that together, and then we went back home and watched Elizabeth: The Golden Age.  We had dinner at home…on TV tables…because our renovation continues and our dining room has now become the dumping ground for all things without a home.  They told us, the bathroom should be finished by the end of  this week.  Whatever….I’m a bit bitter with the contractor right now.  Keep in mind…the room is 9 x 6.5 ft.,  existing plumbing was not moved, and it’s taken 6 weeks to renovate the room.  Arrrgh!!!!!! I’ll tell ya this much…you have to have a solid marriage, and a whole lot of patience…which I’m usually short on…to get through a reno!!

Thank goodness Carl is in this with me because he’s had to talk me off the ledge A LOT in the last 6 weeks…he has the patience of Joab that man. :)

Shelter From The Storm

May 9th, 2008 by mbutterly

Wow….what a day it was yesterday!!!!! I was so proud to be a part of the CHFI Family, from my co-workers, to our awesome CHFI Listeners, helping Erin and Mike raise money for the Canadian Women’s Foundation to help stop violence against women!!!! With your help, and the proceeds from Winner’s Stores across the Country we raised  1.6 Million Dollars!!!! Absolutely incredible!!!

In other news…..

Carl went to see Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. yesterday, and he said it’s a “must see” movie!

Had my first Beach Volleyball game of the season Tuesday…had fun, but almost lost a few toes to frostbite in the sand because it’s still so freakin’ cold at night! :)

Had my first Baseball game of the season last night….it felt REALLY good to be back on the field again, that’s for sure!!!

My Mom is coming to stay for….well…I guess you’d call it Mother’s Week….because Carl will bring her from London this Saturday and she’ll stay with us until next Friday.  My Mom treats coming to visit us like Europeans treat visits to Canada….they figure they’re traveling a long way, so the stay has to warrant the long trip.  I keep telling her it’s not THAT far…. so it’s a good thing we LOVE having her for extended stays….which I totally could NOT do with my Mother-In-Law…not without being extremely agitated anyway. I think adage is on the money……Blood Is Thicker….and all that!

Have a great Mother’s Day Weekend!

Ahhhhh

May 5th, 2008 by mbutterly

I went for a massage at the Old Mill Inn Spa after work Friday, and it was AWESOME!!!! I was still pretty sore from that insane workout last Wednesday, and I needed someone else to pull the kinks out of me….and that’s exactly what Patrick (the masseuse) did for me. I actually left feeling like a million bucks!!!!

My friend STP had a migraine Friday night, so we didn’t end up going out for her Birthday, but we did have breakfast together Saturday morning….one of the perks to living across the street from one another. :)

The monsoon rain we had Saturday, kept me inside for pretty much the whole day, however I did go to my Volleyball wrap up party Saturday night.  It was at Chrystle’s house in Burlington. And WOW…what a house it is!!!! They’ve been there a year, and bought it brand spanking new….but they have redone the ENTIRE house…it’s unbelievable!!!!! So nice, that honestly….it belongs in a magazine!! I love looking at nice homes….I’m one of those people that show up at open houses in my neighbourhood…just to see how our home measures up. lol

Little bit of this and that

May 2nd, 2008 by mbutterly

It’s rainy and grey, and I don’t like it when it’s like this…it bums me out!!!!!!

Carl is going away for the weekend with his buddies. They’re at a cottage up north drinking beer…playing golf..eating….and doing something else, that rhymes with “parting” I’m sure.  lol

I’m taking my friend STP out tonight for her pre-Birthday Celebration! Believe it or not…we must be channeling Carl here, because we’re going for wings and beer at the Blue Goose. :)

I’m going to my season ending volleyball party tomorrow night.  Should be fun, as I plan to bring the makings for my Raspberry Cherry Sour Puss Martini. Not sure what kind of nibblies I’m bringing yet, but you can be sure I’m buying them and not making them…cause that’s how I roll Baby!

I have batting practice Sunday morning at 11, and will probably spend the rest of the day just hanging out.

Have a great weekend, and we’ll catch up Monday!

Sore

May 1st, 2008 by mbutterly

OMG….this is brutal!!!!! That workout last night just about killed me!! Put it this way…it started with 400 crunches… I mean honestly…who can REALLY do that???? Anyway….it went on like that for 75 minutes…and I spent the last 20 minutes of it sucking in air while I exercised because I thought I was going to puke for sure! It didn’t happen….even though I’m sure the instructor….”Crazy Lewis” would have LOVED that!!!!! Why do I call him “Crazy Lewis”??? Because THAT man is CRAZY if he thinks anyone can actually pull off that routine!!  Am I going back??? Not a chance in the world!!! Half way through I turned to my friend Tammy, and said, “…I’d rather starve for a week then have to do this again”! lol

The class is called Tough As Nails….well clearly I AM NOT THAT! I should be in a class called Nice Tushies For Wussies!!!

No worries…..I have a massage booked for tomorrow as soon as I get off the air!!! :)

Movie review

April 30th, 2008 by mbutterly

I went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We went allll the way out to the AMC at Winston Churchill to see it, because Carl thinks they have THE BEST popcorn!!! I have to admit, I do like the Dill Pickle powder you can add to the popcorn, but imagine driving out there when the movie was playing down the street from my house.

Anyway…..20 minutes in, I turned to Carl and said, “…yeah..great movie Dude”!  I thought at that point it was pretty dull….but then it picked up, and we had a few REALLY good laughs here and there until the end of the film.  Is it a must see? No…not really, but it is entertaining enough for the price of admission.

I’m going to my friend Tammy’s gym tonight for a Boot-camp workout. I actually woke up with a bit of anxiety this morning,  wondering if I’ll be able to handle it! Carl has a Boot-camp workout every Monday with a trainer…and it kicks his a$$ every week!! And Carl is one of those people who weight trains at least 3 days a week, and runs 10km the other days….so if this kind of workout can bring him to his knees….I’m not even going to think of what it’s going to do to me!

This much I do know… there will be A LOT of sweat, and  A LOT of begging to let me stop whatever exercise is killing me at the time! I’ve never cried to get my way, but I’ve never been tortured before either…so I’ll let you know how I fared tomorrow.

Taxes

April 28th, 2008 by mbutterly

So I spent 3hrs doing my taxes over the weekend….not bad, considering the great programs that you can buy that walk you step by step through to make sure you don’t miss anything…to your advantage, or the government’s. I have another friend who used the same program last week, and he got his refund in 4 days….here’s hoping!

We had a great weekend at home. My friend Shelley came over for dinner and to hang out in our new gazebo Friday night. Did the tax thing Saturday, while Carl was called into work to cover the sudden TTC strike,  and our friends Rosie and Peter dropped by for a martini Saturday night with their cute spazzy little Boston Terrier Thai. Sunday, Carl and I did a trip to Canadian Tire…the ONLY store I can get Carl to browse in….we spent most of the day relaxing, and enjoying the fact that there was no rain to be had!!! Our neighbour STP had dinner with us last night….in front of the TV watching Spinal Tap!!!!  Yes…we were LOAO through the entire meal!

Gas up

April 25th, 2008 by mbutterly

Gas prices are through the roof again, and projections suggest we could be paying $1.40 a litre this summer.  Although I rarely agree with Middle America…..I’m all for this new slogan on a weekend!!!! lolgas2.JPG

Secret

April 24th, 2008 by mbutterly

The secret to a long marriage is…NOT to renovate your home…buy new instead, and perhaps follow the message of this little story.

At Saint Mary’s Catholic Church they have a weekly husband’s marriage seminar. At the session last week, the Priest asked Luigi, who was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.

Luigi replied to the assembled husbands, “Well, I’ve a-tried to treat-a her nice, spend the money on her, but best of all is that I took-a her to Italy for the 20th anniversary!”

The Priest responded, “Luigi, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary.”

Luigi proudly replied, “I’m a-gonna go and get her.”
