Silly me

It’s something that happens every single year. Even people born and raised in our city can be fooled. I’m talking about the gorgeous weather….the kind of weather that makes you think Spring could be just around the corner. It never fails, we get a beautiful bout of sunny, warm temperatures and all of a sudden people are willing to wait for what seems like hours for a car wash…everyone heads to the mall for new sandals and t-shirts…..not to mention everyone and their dog flocking to the local parks for some fun in the sun.

The other day, I even found myself thinking….”hey, it’s almost time to take the winter tires off the truck.” Am I a total idiot?? I should know better. I’m going to need those suckers until at least June! I’ve lived in this great city for far too long to know that there is no way Spring is here. How do I know? just wait for it…..like clock-work, it happens - - the dreaded Spring storm which seems to hit every single March, right around St. Patrick’s Day.

If you’re new to Calgary you’re probably thinking “yah right, it’s way too nice to have to worry about another big snowstorm.” There is a pretty good chance we won’t have to endure anymore minus 30 temperatures, but trust me…Spring is not here. Now is NOT the time to change your winters tires to summer slicks.

Let’s hope I’m wrong, but something tells me (like our Meterologist David Spence) that I’m not.
