This morning 570 News had a story in the run about  the decline of the redhead.
570’s Katie Simpson reports there a now a number of websites dedicated to saving the redhead..some even
encouraging redhead-only dating.
The concern? Redheads could become extinct in the next hundred years! 
Right now less than five percent of the world’s population are redheads..something to do with a recessive gene.
I prefer to think that we are a rare and special group. 

I was a very stereotypical redhead when I was young.. with the big splotchy freckles.
My grade four school picture was the worst!
Red hair was soooooo not cool back then.
In the U-K there have been cases of redheaded kids being bullied all due to their ginger locks. 

Yes, I’ve heard every bad nickname.. including carrot top, redsy and…copper top.
Fellow newsroom redhead Kate Stockmann remembers getting called “rusty roof” a lot.

Now I’m darker, and need that odd visit to the salon to “enhance” my red. 

No, we do not have bad tempers ….  Yes, we burn in the sun.
