Take her to the new War Museum, and then tea and cake afterwards.

A great idea that will cover a full day for you you, Carter, would be to take her on the Wakefield steamtrain. Also, lunch at the National Art Gallery is a lovely thing to do. Good luck!

Well Carter I was thinking since your from Gananoque you could always head out that way and take her on the Thousand Islands Boat Cruise. Maybe stop by and let her see Boldt Castle. After that head out to visit your folks. Just a suggestion….Have a great day!

Hey, Carter - have you gone to any of the nature trails around town? My favourite is the Sarsaparilla Trail on Richmond Rd. You can feed chickadees right out of the palm of your hand!

I suggest that you take your mother in law on the boat tour of the Ottawa River. It usually lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes,,,,or if you really want to keep her occupied take her on one of those bus and cruise combination tours of Ottawa that are almost all day, goes on the Ottawa River and the double decker bus,,its with Paul’s Boat Tours I believe.

Good luck,,,better you then me!!!!! lol

Hi Carter have you taken her to see the Flower gardens at the Experimental Farm on Prince of Wales. You can park on Prince of Wales and just walk over. It wouldn’t be too tiring if she has a sore knee. Then take her either to Mexicali Rosa’s at Dows Lake or the Ritz on the Canal for lunch. ….. Or then take her to the Prescott for a meatball sandwich and a beer.

Canal trip by Pauls boat lines, if you haven’t done that.

Take her to the hairdresser and tell them to leave her under the hairblower for a few hours while you can go out and enjoy yourself.

Bring her to Wakefield, Quebec! Have you ever been here? It’s a lovely, quaint village! Have lunch at Kaffe 1870 or Chez Eric. Go see Lester B. Pearson’s grave. Walk across the most beautiful covered bridge.

Wakefield rocks and you’ll never regret a trip here! (Unfortunately, the Wakefield steam train is not happening right now, but if it was, it’d be a great thing to do!)

And if you need a tour guide, I’m your gal! :)

    Hey there,

for a rainy at home day, plug her into a WII…

My cousin is a director of activities for a seniors residence - they’ve had a WII system for about 8 months now with the sports attachments (golf, tennis) and the older folks love it. They are getting low impact exercise and interacting with each other (and the grand kids)…

Take her to the byward market downtown to shop for fresh vegetables and flowers and then take her for lunch at The Keg.

If you don’t like your mother-in-law, play hide-and-seek with her…she hides, you seek…if you get my drift - HA HA

I happen to work with the elderly, so I know most of them tier easily. watever you decide. try to plan activities that dont involve a whole day unless they are in good shape. this way they dont feel overwhelmed and you can plan something for yourself afterwars!

    Sasha…

It is unfortunate to see how many blog comments and forum posts that instead of focusing on what someone said the discussion turns into an off topic conversation about nothing….
