How long will this toy last?
My son Johnny is turning 5 in a couple of weeks. I am giving him an AirBlade Hovercraft for his bday. It’s a remote controlled car that is supposed to work on land, snow and water. My colleagues seem to think that it is is going to be destroyed within a day. I am now taking bets on how long it will actually last. Whoever gets the closest, gets 5,000 Kiss Club VIP points. Any takers?

Sandra, Sandra, Sandra, what are you thinking? I give it 24hrs tops! lol
July 9th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I’ll be generous and give it 48 hours.
Good Luck!
July 10th, 2008 at 4:18 am
I have faith, it will last at least 2 weeks.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:24 am
I will give Little Johnny 60 hours.
July 10th, 2008 at 5:19 am
I have two boys and they were rough enough when they were that age, but I recall their remote control toys lasting pretty good. It was the weather that would get us. So if it doesn’t get left out in the rain, I think the toy could last at least a month.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:01 am
I give it a week.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:20 am
I predict that Johnny will be bored with it before it breaks.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:27 am
My prediction is that it will last for 1 week.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I give it 12 hours before it is broken, Sorry.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
I too think that boredom will set in before it breaks. This toy will be rammed into one too many things or stepped on to last no more than 12 hours.
July 10th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
I think the battery will run out before he gets a chance to break it.
July 10th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
I’m with Boyle on this one~ he’ll go out of his way to test this toys’ limits. I think it will fail the Johnny test before bedtime…
But I wish you and the toy all the best!
July 10th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I give it 5 hrs

Hey Sandra,
The product will probably last a few months but here is what I predict - battery will lose their charge quickly and he will lose interest in the fact that he has to wait a while between charges to play with the toy which means he will most likely more quickly shelf the product and go back to the conventional toys - Great idea if you give him something to pass the time between charges… Wait, maybe he’ll just start to toss it around out of boredom…

Wow! Happy Birthday Johnny! I highly doubt it will see the winter to hover on snow, so I give it ’til labour day.
July 11th, 2008 at 5:09 am
I think it will take 2 months to break.
July 11th, 2008 at 5:20 am
I predict that Johnny will break it after 72 hours.
July 11th, 2008 at 7:57 am
I’m thinking a few hours… I’m gonna say 3 hours.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:03 am
10 hrs is plenty of time to toast this thing.
July 11th, 2008 at 9:39 am
I agree that he will get bored of it first, but at least a couple of pieces will come off before this happens… but he’ll get bored with it before it fully breaks down
July 11th, 2008 at 10:23 am
I predict that Johnny doesn’t get to play with it at all because hubby will play with it instead to show Johnny how it works and hubby will be the one to actually break it!

Broken within 2 hours.
July 11th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Sandra, I would give it 6 days!
July 11th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Hi Sandra….I say it will all depend on if Johnny gets a chance to play with, assuming that Tim lets him….I figure Tim could have it broken in a good three hour window….Johnny might make it to the end of the week, so lets say a cool 96 hours. Cheers!
July 11th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
I’m even more generous - a week
July 11th, 2008 at 2:18 pm

July 11th, 2008 at 7:31 pm

July 12th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I say 6 and a half days. However, the batteries might wear out before then.
July 12th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Sorry for you but my son was like your son at that age so : 1 hour.
July 13th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I give it five hours….sorry…..cool gift though
July 13th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
I don’t think Johnny will break it-I go for one of Johnny’s friends to demolish it-damn neighbours! I give it 8 days. Though Tim will go and buy a new one so he can play with it in the winter.
July 14th, 2008 at 7:39 am
I predict 3 days…. good luck!
July 15th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Hey Sandra:
Cool gift, I give it two weeks between Tim and little Johnny! Unlimited battery supply tossed in there too of course!
July 16th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Sandra
I have nephews who destroy pretty much everything they touch within weeks, sometimes days.
I’m wishing you luck with this - I say by September 6th - IF he doesn’t get bored with it first.
July 17th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Hi SAndra,
It may be pretty sturdy. In my experience the remote gets dropped and broken before the toy does. I’ll bet the remote gets broken first, probably by end of August.
Good luck!
