Yes it was certainly a nice surprise to see the Par 3 Contest yesterday. I think there is a link between the televised Par 3 Contest this year and the main story on the Masters.org website which asks people to submit their thoughts on "how to get people playing, watching, and talking about golf." It was great seeing all the kids and grandkids of players acting as caddies yesterday. It should go a long way in peaking interest in getting more kids involved in the game which hopefully leads to more junior golfers and a stronger and younger playing base for the future.

On another note, it seems to me that the WCLC must be losing money on the golf plays it has been offering this year. No one in there right mind would plunk down money on a matchup between Ernie Els (5.00) and Tiger Woods (1.30). Els would be lucky to break Par in the Par 3 Contest this year, let alone making the cut. The matchup between Furyk and Mickelson is so old, you don't even need to check the numbers - you should know them by heart now as they have been offered so many times already this year. If I am not mistaken there are a few more golfers on the PGA Tour this year besides these four WCLC. Get a clue and take a look at the QC Sports Lottery who offer 30 individual matchups for Masters play just for Thursday. Get it right WCLC or get it off the Game List. You are not the only game in town, so stop acting like it.

I would say that American talent is still quite thin, there are a lot of good American PGA pros but they width and breath of talent leave a lot to be desired. Short of the obvious of course. Next to Woods, Cink, Furyk I would suggest you have your choice of about 50 guys who are all the same player.

My point is i don't think this presidents cup will be won by the Captains but by the International team, with who is far an away the more talented squad.

After Woods i would say the US drought in talents in now in is 8th season with no end in sight.
