…to me it looks like some kind of metal hole-cover of some kind…

  19. Louie Says:

Hey Jeff, how was your weekend in Niagara Falls? What’s that Bird Kingdom place all about?

Something tells me that we’ll soon be seeing some bird-related blog puzzles in the coming weeks.

Still no clue on the picture for today’s blog. It looks like a speaker without the screen part, but that doesn’t explain the metallic look to it.

  20. Rebecca P. Says:

GROAN, again no clue, I told Carly yesterday how Jeff makes me pop Avil trying to solve his photo blogs ! Got 2500 bonus points for yesterday’s visit, thank goodness, since I never seem to get any of these ones. 30. Nick Says:

It looks brass, maybe a door knocker, or a brass thingy for the wall?

  35. Jenny Says:

    I got it!!!

    old homes have these

  36. sandra Says:

If i look around my house it could be a doorknob the bottom portion of my chairs maybe on a bannister though i dont have one. Who knows Oh yeah myjudi and diana know. Wish i was them right about now/

  37. diana Says:

been wondering where everyone is today
reason being there’s not much chatter on the blog
    April’s missing, so’s A.Crostic and others
seems like i’m the only one with the answer
so far today, but Jeff’s left a really good clue…

  38. sandra Says:

if i go with the doorknob theory i dont know what the 4 words would be
    anolddoorknob turningthedoorknob turnthedoorknob.
dumbasadoorknob it depends on whether it is a doorknob and if it is is doorknob 1 or 2 words. UGGG> :(

  39. chas Says:

some kind of door knob, thinking!

  40. Tom Says:

You need to know what it’s made of.

    1-5-4-4

  41. Jenny Says:

    1 - 5 - 4 - 4

  42. Pooch Says:

    door knob

  43. Lori Says:

Is this a turn key operation?

  44. BarbH Says:

Wally - I thought the same as you! Other than that, I’m lost too.

Kudos Diana. And thanks for putting out some clues. Unfortunately they’re not making any sense to me yet…

    Think, think, think…

  45. Jack Says:

  46. bonnie the student Says:

if doorknob is part of the puzzle is it considered one word or two?

I won tickets to see Judas Priest.

    Clue:

    Jeff’s porthole.

  48. CathyB Says:

Is it something to do with a closeup of speakers of a stereo, boombox or headset?

  49. Tiberius Says:

    1 5 4 4
I have an urn made of this metal, and Jeff’s update should get you turned in the right direction.

  50. Tiberius Says:

    Another tough one!
Better get my thinking cap on.
    Ready for a brewski now.
After this weekend’s one, it’s nice to get a simpler one.
Sometimes I look at these clues upside down.
Sometimes after a few too many brewskis!!

  51. sue Says:

    how many

    letters in each word?

could the mottled material be cork?

    could this be a microphone?

  52. sandra Says:

come on Jeff update. I didnt get downtothewire cause you didnt let anything thru till after i went to bed.. Please update sooner than later

  53. Tiberius Says:

Jeff, seems to me you’ve worn the paint off that thing from opening and closing it so often!
Is it attached to the portal to where the beer fridge may be awaiting a visit, perhaps?
    Or the darkroom?
Must be 20 or 30 in that home of yours, Huh!?
    PLAY!

  54. funkygunky Says:

  56. Ron Says:

Looks like a pencil, but it’s not gettheledout or gettheleadout.

  57. Lori Says:

    Wakey Wakey Jeff.

  58. Stacey Says:

I thought it looked like a close-up of the button on my jeans, but I was wrong. This thing turns.

  59. Tiberius Says:

Don’t worry, all, Jeff is awake!
One of the clues is from Diana.
    One more from Jenny
Really easy if you think a bit.
Keep at it all of you.
    No point in quiting now,
once you see the big picture, it will come to you.
Best to open the door to the other room and think a bit, and then come back.

  60. sue Says:

what is the diameter of this entire mottled circle?

the word “turn” suggests it is a dial.

Is this part of an iphone?

Jeff please give us a clue, and let us know approximately how old this item is.

  61. sue Says:

Is it part of a camera?

2 - Is it part of a radio?

3 - is it part of a Guitar hero game?

4 - would I have one of these in my house?

  62. sandra Says:

Diana Im pretty sure i know what it is but is that 1 word or 2 words and what are the other words.I have no idea Nothing ive tried has worked i think im close but i was close to down to the wire also and i never got it either. Help.

  63. sue Says:

Am I correct in thinking that the first two words have the following number of letters -

    1 - 5 - ? - ?

Is this item above my kitchen sink all of the time?

  64. David Evans Says:

What a Knob I am today it took 5 1/2 brown pops for it to become clear I should have been looking at the wifes Brass monkeys for the opening power.

  65. Lee Ann Says:

I spun this so many times, and was close, but thanks to the clues, I was able to put it into perspective. Thanks everyone.

I used to pretend the ones at my grampa’s house were diamonds. All for me, I was rich…yeah I was high maintenance even as a kid.

Enjoy the evening, it’s a beaute!
    :D
ps - Spyderman, the Pinto was my mum’s…phew, that would be embarrasing…

  66. sue Says:

Is it a peep hole, a key hold or an old fashioned key?

  67. Tiberius Says:

sue, yes to #’s and no to sink.More like near the bathroom/bedroom.
    And lots of ‘em.

  68. Tiberius Says:

If you have little kids, you may cover these to keep them in or out of somewhere.

  69. Tiberius Says:

I use “Pikal” to keep mine polished, Jeff.
What do you use, or does someone else do this for you?
    Hmmm..

  70. Tiberius Says:

Terri has a handle on this clue.
Stacey has the motion for the solution.

  71. Terri Says:

What a knob I was to not get this earlier!

  72. Elleni Says:

sue look at terri 5:54 for all the number of letters.

  73. Diana Says:

yes sue, 1-5 for the first two words and 4-4.

I don’t think you’d find what you’re looking for at the kitchen sink.

  74. David Evans Says:

Sue it doesn’t relate to a sink. 1-5-4-4 by the numbers

  75. bonnie the student Says:

thanks tiberius I couldnt have gotten the answer without you.
the last 2 words in the puzzle are usually known by one word.
I knew what the object was as soon as I saw it and I feel like a
doorknob for not getting this descriptive answer earlier.

  76. bonnie the student Says:

btw it is not part of a camera, radio, game component, cork, microphone, frypan, phone or running shoe.
I imagine that you might have one of these in your house if your house was really old or if you’re decorator was going for the antique look.
also, this item would fit comfortably in your hand and is usually known by one word not two
    1 5 4 4
    or
    1 5 8

  77. Lori Says:

Anything to do with A silent butler

  78. MyJudi Says:

Terri ~ Great way to get the numbers through in each word. You are a genius. Of course we all are, or we’re all insane!

  79. Diana Says:

    thanks for the Kudos barbh
Nothing better than to get it first thing in the morning, because
Only then can real work get done in the office, not blog research ;0).
Better get the kids to bed now or it’ll take them forever to get to sleep.

Sandra, I forgot to thank you for the bonus code on the weekend…thanks those points sure helped get the points going again.

  80. Spyderman Says:

    Sue,

    not above your kitchen sink.

1-5-4-4. i just got home from worK aNd gOt it first try But I can’t think of a clue that woulD gO through OR i would post it.

    cheers

    spyderman

  81. Claire Says:

    Got it!

Sue, yes, you are correct with the 1 - 5
but not the item above your sink.

    Does it seem quiet
    on the blog today?
Or is it that everyone is on holidays getting some
    rest and relaxation?

  82. Claire Says:

    Hey Tibs,

    Kickin’ back a few?
    Nice work with your clue.
Only took me two minutes after reading it.
    Brewskies for everyone!!!!!

  83. Claire Says:

Jeff, I think you could use some Brasso cleaner, it works wonders.

  84. sandra Says:

Diana thanks so much i reread your comments and it was right there in front of me like ages ago.
    1-5-4-4

  85. BarbH Says:

Sue you’re close - 1-5-4-4, however, I can’t imagine this being over your sink, unless it was NOT being used for it’s original purpose.

Thanks Tiberius! Your clue made all the others fall into place for me.

    Thanks Diana and Jeff too!

Actually, these are found in some better new homes as well, but they sure don’t look like the old one in Jeff’s pic. A really cool one Jeff.

  86. Janice Says:

Thanks Tiberius: I got it after reading your first clue. My Grandmother’s home had these, turn them and still they don’t open. Pretty bad when you had to go to the washroom when your little.

  87. BarbH Says:

    RE yesterday:

Sandra & Kath - thanks for helping with the points yesterday!

Louie - that was such a great clue that I could almost smell the marshmallows toasting. (Wishful thinking…)

Ron, your clue about really, really wanting something from your parents made me remember begging my parents for something (usually for sweets, toys or to stay up late) and that cinched it for me. Thanks!!!

  88. Ron Says:

BarbH, you mean I actually left a useful clue the other day? There’s a first time for everything!

Thanks for the clues, Tiberius especially.

  89. Kath Says:

Terri @ 732. you helped the penny drop. I was close… but was coming in third for bronze… ok I know… close but not quite.

  90. Lori Says:

Something to do with A brass door keys.

Jeff if you would let more clues through in the morning, I would have solved your puzzle by now.

Your update clue turned me off.
