UPDATE: Greetings from Niagara Falls. And, thanks to both Jason & Nathan  (hotel staffers) for helping me to get on-line here at the absolutely gorgeous Crowne Plaza (Brock Hotel). Old school! And, what a view. Just came from breakfast, up next….we’re off to Marineland with the kids. Following that, Bird Kingdom. Might have to stop along the way for a cocktail.

SOLUTION: prettypleasewithacherryontop

Code is good all weekend, Jeff’s Morning Poll goes all weekend too….we’re wondering if excessive cocktailing may have lead to a little tomfoolery…nudge, nudge…tell us about the strangest place you ever got lucky.

Friday’s Morning Show Bonus Code: gimlet

  11. Christine Says:

Little people who drink this might just be after the cherry! I know I would. Oh my word!!!

  12. Terri Says:

You rock Kathy! Now what do I do with my whole free weekend?
We complain when we can’t get it and when we get it too early on Fridays! LOL Maybe if everyone gets it early and Jeff is bored this weekend we can get a bonus pic again! He is such a good man I am sure he will keep it in mind. ;-)
    Have a great one all!

  16. Lee Ann Says:

I prefer sugar…easier on the digestion.

I could use one of those cocktails right about now, it’s one of those mornings. I think I’d polish it off in one drink, garnish and all…

    Enjoy your weekend!

  17. Christine Says:

Kids today don’t use this saying. I asked my sons if they knew it and they said they heard it on a cartoon. Probably a thirty-year-old rerun of the cartoons we used to watch. I find that kids today are not up on their vocabulary and sayings like we were. They rush ahead with this “advanced” curriculum and they can’t even write cursive. Most of the kids in my eldest son’s grade 9 class can’t write cursive. Can you believe they will go into the business world not knowing how to write cursive? His grade 9 English teacher was not very impressed that his class couldn’t write cursive. He said I guess it’s too late now. I guess they can print their notes and email the rest.

    Anyone else find that.

Sorry I usually don’t go off in another direction like this but this really is something I wish we could get the Minister of Education to look at.

Please Mr. Education Minister help our kids to learn cursive.

  18. Jenny Says:

on a pool table (when the bar was closed)

  19. Jenny Says:

in a cloak room at a wedding

  20. Christine Says:

Sorry they give them a mini lesson on cursive and then don’t expect them to use it and don’t practice it.

It’s like exposing them to ancient greek writing.

  21. Wendy Says:

    Nice one Jeff!

  22. Christine Says:

OOPs, I think it’s a Ms. or Mrs. Education Minister. I need a drink.

  23. Kim Says:

Woo Hoo!! It’s my birthday, I got the points, 7/11 is giving away free slurpees!!! I got a Wii!!! Today has to be the best Day ever!!!! :-D

  24. Christine Says:

Happy Birthday Kim. It looks like the sun it coming out for you today. I hope more good things come your way.

  25. Witchie Says:

Cheers to Kath and a gold star for you today as well!! Hold the Shirley and the Temple and make mine a very cold MGD.

  26. Wendy Says:

    Happy B’Day Kim!!

  27. robl Says:

awesome, nice way to end the week, like icing on a cake.

  28. Jenny Says:

  29. Jenny Says:

I did it once in the trunk of a big old cadillac (with the lid open)

  30. BarbH Says:

    not: searchingformylostshakerofsalt

  31. Cathy Says:

I am a Manager of a minor hockey team. When I ask the players to sign the roster…….yes, they print their names. I can never believe that. These boys are 14 years old! I have to repeat myself and ask them to sign their names and they look at me not quite understanding what I am asking them! I have to say though, when my youngest was in CASA graduating to Grade 1 in a Montessori school, they weren’t going to pass him because he couldn’t write cursive! I have to say he is in Grade 6 now and has a beautiful hand writing. Extremes……

  32. Gunky Says:

let’s do a round of body shots!

  33. sue Says:

    6 - 6 - 4 - 1 - 6 - 2 -3

Something kids say when they really want something from their parents.

  34. Kevin Says:

On the beach at Sandbanks Provincial Park in the middle of the afternoon.

  35. Jenny Says:

although the floating dock in the middle of the lake was alot of fun…it was too dark for anyone else camping to see but I’m sure the frantic splashing of the dock against the water got their attention.

  36. BarbH Says:

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kim !!!

  37. April Says:

Good week for me, 5 for 5, thanks for this one Jeff as it’s nice to have the weekend off!!

    Good Luck Bloggers,
    April

  38. Terri Says:

We have that problem with my son’s soccer team Cathy. He is also 14. My daughter just finished grade 3 and they were suppose to learn cursive this year and of course didn’t. Now I am making her learn it this summer with me and she is not happy about that but I don’t want her to fall behind or never learn it. I have large beefs with the education system these days so don’t get me started as well!

  39. jac key Says:

thanks kath….pleased the weekend is now here….looks like a pretty day too.

  40. Pat Says:

Please help fellow bloggers. Us non-drinkers need lots of assistance here! More clues would be appreciated.

  41. Louie Says:

Hey Kath, thanks for the great clues! You’re so pretty yourself, you know. ;-)

  42. wesM Says:

In a canoe on some river in the middle of the day.
Now, I need help, more clues, how many letters? what cartoon character said this?

  43. Lori Says:

    Happy Birthday Kim.

BarbH , thanks for your great clue yesterday.

Todays I have not gotten yet.
I see the cherry in the drink.
The puzzle has something to do with manners.

  44. Lori Says:

Not Say good-bye to someone who is leaving

  45. Louie Says:

Anyone else think it’s weird that on the auctions page here, people have bid more for a $50 Starbucks gift card than for a pair of tickets to see the Steve Miller Band?

  46. Marvin Says:

Not Do Not Use that Tone With Me

  47. Marvin Says:

Not people leave their elbows on the table

  48. CathyB Says:

I never was a big fan of cherries on the top of my cocktails. I always took them out and didn’t eat them.

  49. April Says:

    HEY JEFF,

YOUR POLL TODAY, HA, HA, REAL FUNNY, BRANTFORD????? WHY WOULD YOU PICK THERE AND NOT BRAMPTON, MISSISSAUGA, OR MARKHAM??? OR “JEFF’S HOUSE”, LOL!!!

  50. April Says:

    HEY FELLOW BLOGGERS,

This is (or usd to be) a common phrase that when parents asked their kids what they wanted on their ice cream, this was their answer.

    Hope this helps,
    April

  51. Cathy Says:

    Terri,

Tell your daughter she is lucky. My son is working on his Math this summer. He would much prefer to write cursive! To me printing takes much longer than writing cursive don’t you think? Back in the day, penmenship came first above everything else……

  52. Cathy Says:

In a motorboat in the daytime in the middle of a lake!

  53. April Says:

    P.S. Happy Birthday Kim,

Are you new to the blog? If so, glad to meet you and have a great day!! If not, still have a great day, LOL!!

  54. sandra Says:

I have no clue on this one at all. I think i know the ending but not the begiining will wait for later thought it was
shirleytemplewithacherryontop but no so im confused.

  55. Louie Says:

Further to my comment about people bidding more for a Starbucks card than for Steve Miller Band tickets… just how much can you get for $50 at Starbucks? Won’t that just get you two coffees? LOL

  56. Jenny Says:

    where’s your story Jeff?

  57. Tiberius Says:

Sorry ladies, I have now idea what kind of a drink that is, but if I did it may help me get the answer faster, like you all did.
Time for an update, Jeff, and a brewsli for me to ponder the answer in the hammock I just installed in my shady garage.
    Hmmmmmmmm….
    nch

  58. sue Says:

    6 - 6- 4 - 1 - 6 - 2 -3

  59. sue Says:

that roundish red object is one of the words in the answer

  60. Tiberius Says:

That was BREWSKI, and it was good.
Hmm.As for habble-de-ga-ga; on the hood of my ‘72 Grand Fury Brougham in the driveway of my new girlfriend’s parents place in Whitehorse, Yukon, in July of ‘81, with the northern lights dancing and the sun barely down for an hour, and we watched it come up again after.
    The sun that is.

  61. don'twannasay... Says:

in some park; outside some boozecan…..with some strange guy…..?????

  62. David Evans Says:

Thanks Kath. Fantastic clue great to be done early. Enjoy the cocktails all.

  63. Lee Ann Says:

Ok, I hadn’t read the poll and thought where’s all this randiness coming from on the blog? I keep low key and it turns into a freakfest here, but then I saw the poll and thought ohhhhhkay, now I see. Since we’re airing dirty laundry - Christmas eve, in a Ford PINTO in the parking lot opposite Avondale Plaza, considering the history of that particular vehicle, I’m surprised kharma didn’t blow the car up. I hope by now God and Santa have forgiven my sins :D

  64. Tiberius Says:

Kath, great clues, and Christine, 1 of my kids only uses this phrase when he REAlly wants a new video game. And my kids look at writing as a chore/homework they don’t have to do.
    In MY house they do.
    HAppy b’day Kim!!!
You will enjoy Wii play, just don’t box too much.
    You’ll see why.
    Enjoy the weekend JEFF!!!!
I raise a glass to you, too!
    ;0

    PLAY!

  65. sandra Says:

  66. douglas Says:

Another cocktail, you sure like to drink Mr. Chalmers!! I remember when my kids you to ask me for this.

  67. April Says:

I actually don’t like my ice cream sundaes like this but a lot of people do!!

  68. Jennifer Says:

Thank you for the great clues, Kath and Lynda. I don’t believe it. I actually got a weekend one on the friday.

You’re right, Christine! Kids don’t seem to use this expression anymore. I haven’t heard anyone use it in a long time. (Even jokingly.)

Happy Brithday Kim. Hope it is a great one. It sounded like it started off good anyway.

  69. Heather Says:

Still have to put my thinking (or drinking) cap on for this bonus phrase.

I AM CANADIAN! How ’bout a canoe in the madawaska river (one of the more secluded areas!

  70. Heather Says:

oh yeah spyderman…pharmacists do it with a grinding motion!

  71. Janice Says:

Hi Guys: I haven’t been on here lately, I too have had problems with our computer. I do think its the websites we research for our daily fix. Oh by the way, my husband, myself and one guest went to see Absolute Comedy act in Toronto. These were the 6 tickets I won from Jack. What a show, too bad all the other people backed out prior to the show. I should have put out a notice to the Jackters on the plog. They would have come and enjoyed themselves. We know how to party!!!! The show was excellent, my abs. are still hurting today from laughing. If your in Toronto anytime you should checkout the Absolute Comedy club at 2335 Yonge street. You do have to book before you go and tickets are $10.00. Hey we should all attend then we can meet. Janice

  72. A. Palmer Says:

Jeff, Did you get drunk at lunch as I was lucky enough to get the answer today but there hasn’t been an update since 12:21 p.m. and it’s now 8:13 p.m. now, so I feel bad for the other bloggers, well good luck everyone as I’m back out to play nine more!!

  73. Claire Says:

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM :)

  74. Claire Says:

Ugly thanks with grapes on the bottom.

  75. randy Says:

happy b-day kim; 9 days to mine
congrats kath on getting them so quick although i’m a little worried that your starting to think like jeff :) :)

jenny you’ve had some interesting places:)

-in a boat in the middle of the lake

  77. Spyderman Says:

    CHEERS

    Spyderman

Lee Ann, I drove a ford pinto wouldn’t that be a coincidence
Sandra, You should be pretty pleased you have the last 5 words now remember your manners

  78. sue Says:

the first word is the opposite of ugly and has 6 letters.

  79. Jeff Chalmers Says:

six miles offshore (Toronto) aboard the Cyril B….

  80. Louie Says:

I ain’t seen anyone post the amount of letters in each word, so I’ll take this opportunity to do so:

    6-6-4-1-6-2-3

  81. sandra Says:

thanks spyderman thought i had the last 5 right and you confirming it made it easier. Then i went back and reread all the comments and the light came on. My kids dont say that either. Please yes but not the other part at least not since they were very little. I agree with you guys about cursive writing. Everything is typed these days so kids are loosing that skill. Sad.

  82. RKF Says:

How about the 4th green at Streetville Glen Golf Club after a few beverages……

  83. sandra Says:

sorry forgot to add HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM!!! HOPE ITS A GOOD ONE!!!

  84. Louie Says:

Jeff, is that a clue? If it ain’t, then you should’ve said 9.65 kilometres instead of six miles, since we live in a metric society.

Then again, I still refer to pounds and feet when I’m talking about weight and height respectively.

  85. sandra Says:

spyderman thank you again you pretty much gave me the answer and i didnt even realize it. You guys all ROCK. Without your help i wouldnt get most of these. Thanks again and have an AWESOME weekend.

  86. Lori Says:

Sandra I saw your post with the last 5 words.

Need a clue for the first 2 words please?

  87. Marvin Says:

Not shirley temple with a cherry on top
Not drink up with a cherry on top

Am I on the right track?

    I don’t get Kath’s clue pile up.

  88. pooch Says:

thanx Claire, your clue should help out the rest of the bloggers!
BTW, still tryin’ to figure out what cartoon character would have said this!

  89. Heather Says:

goody goody gumdrops! I got this one - thanks all!

Just taking a break from our garage sale…made a little better as hwy 27 is closed and everyone needs to reroute thru our town!
Enjoy the heat and humidity today! Only popsicles for now…then real drinks in the hottub later!
    woo hoo!

  90. Lori Says:

Jeff it is now 1:32pm July12.
When are you going to update?

  91. Jeff Chalmers Says:

    How’s now, Lori?

  92. Louie Says:

Lori, check out Spyderman’s message to Sandra today at 8:21 am and that should help you out a lot.

  93. Lori Says:

    Better than nothing.
Just stuck on the first 2 words if Marvin is correct?

  94. Lori Says:

I don’t get the other vague clues.
Jeff you have blocked the good clues.
    I’ll check back later.
Jeff go on maid on the mist.

  95. don'twannasay... Says:

alright, Jeffy……havin’ some excellent fallsview family time….LOVE the Brock…..isn’t it joined to the casino???? just walk thru the halls b4 u get to hard rock cafe, and up the escalator u go…..

    Cheers all!

    Janis
    p.s. i think i may remember the cyril b.???

  96. Christine Says:

Ask nicely and you might get what you want. You don’t need to know the name of the drink to get this.

  97. sandra Says:

youre funny Jeff. Lori look at what spyderman replied to me. He PREtty much gives you the first 2 words. PLEse take a closer look. Hope youre having a good weekend Jeff. Here in Richmond Hill weather is crap raining some thunder grey cloudy sky.

  98. Nancy Says:

Most of these clues are pathetic.
    Just dumb guessing
How are you supposed to solve a puzzle like this?

  99. Ron Says:

Just back from NY State (Steely Dan in the Finger Lakes, kind of a Molson Ampitheatr clone there)….memo to Claire, that was not me passed out at that concert way back when. Thinking about your clue too but I can’t think in a Chalsmerian way today.

  100. Ron Says:

I meant to write “Chalmersian”. I’ll be ok, sitting on the Queenston/Lewiston bridge for an hour in today’s heat destroyed my brain cells for the day. Will examine the clues later.

  101. Ralph Says:

Add me to the “canoe club”. Pretty popular response.

  102. Lori Says:

Sandra, thank-you very much from the bottom of my heart.
    I really appreciate your help.

    Have a very good weekend.
Hope it does not rain on Sunday.

Jeff try going on Maid of the Mist.
They will give you a raincoat.
On the way back go to Butterfly world.
    Your kids will love it.

  103. Ron Says:

Unbelievable, I just figured it out from staring at the picture. I don’t know, kids would say this phrase back in our day (when we really really wanted something), but do they say it now?

  104. NancyM Says:

Don’t blame this Nancy for the other Nancy’s comments. I haven’t got it either but why is she trying to make it difficult for everyone named Nancy? Or does he/she just use the name so I take the fall when their frustrated?

  105. Bob H Says:

Pretty view of the Falls Jeff?
    Please have a good time
    With your family. Have
    A
    Cherry cola
    On
    Top of the Nikon tower.

  106. Kath Says:

Wow. I thought I was PREtty obvious with my clues. PLEase take another look. think of a saying that we may have used when we really wanted something ~ yes more likely from kids again … sometimes we’d say with sugar sometimes with the fruit floating ON The Original Photo used for this weekends clue.

    :-)

  107. Kath Says:

BTW JC hasn’t left much in mod hell today… thanks JC for letting all my clues out…
in case anyone missed the countdown ‘lemmy’ tell you I had to wait to the end to catch the points.

  108. Rita Says:

Thanks Sandra @ 5:33, that was got me thru! You pretty much have to look at the picture to see the situation. Please and thanks.
    BTW, Niagara Falls rocks!

  109. Sonjia Says:

Hello dear bloggers and of course Mr. Chalmers. Now Jeff, you should not be asking us bloggers where we did the hanky panky. I would not ask you.
You should be ashamed of yourself. I like how you answer other bloggers
and not me. Do you think this is fair? You say you took your children out
for the weekend, you mean your parents took you out with your children.
I would like to know what your family thinks of this Jeff. Please try not to
have to many cocktails Jeff because we need you here on Monday. You still did not say if you went to Ching park on July 1st. I guess Jeff will answer me when this chap decides it is convenient for him. I still think Jeff
is a cool dude. I had my two oldest children here last weekend and my dear 13 year old baby was very thrilled. The youngest one is going to Newfoundland for vacation soon and she will going to school there for her grade 9. It will be safer for her there.

  110. Sonjia Says:

Dear Mr. Jeff Chamlers, since you are going to keep this blog going all weekend, maybe you could learn some Newfoundland English. I dare you
to answer me first. I did say I would teach you some Newfoundland English. This Jeef guy is really smart dear bloggers.

  111. Jeff Chalmers Says:

Hey Sonjia…no, didn’t make it to Ching….and I’m afraid I don’t know too much Newfoundland English either….I do enjoy east coat beer, however. Does that count? Pass around the Keith’s….and thanks for blogging, eh?

  112. Claire Says:

    KATH,

Thank you very much for the countdown bonus code :)

  113. sandra Says:

Youre welcome Lori glad i could help someone as everyone always helps me too. Jeff you ever been to Great Wolf Lodge if not you should go one time Great place for kids and adults alike. Say hello to the Belugas.

  114. Nan Says:

Hmmmmmmm, the “Nancy” strikes again! Don’t worry NancyM, I know you are a nice person (like me!) Some people just cannot enjoy themselves without bringing others around them down. Just ignore it and have a BLAST doing Jeff’s Mind Twisters!

Hoping EVERYONE is having a GREAT weekend!!!!!

  115. Louie Says:

The countdown bonus code that Kath mentioned was from the TV show, but the radio one was different. Here’s a clue:

It’s what people make to keep warm on a beach or outside a cottage or tent, and it’s also what people on the TV show Survivor make to cook their food or boil water. One word (sometimes two) - eight letters.

  116. Claire Says:

    Hey Nancy @ 5:40 p.m

Couldn’t you think of a better clue to help out your fellow bloggers other than “pathetic” and “dumb”????

If you keep thinking like that in life you will NEED a whole bunch of those little thingies pictured in the puzzle.

If the blog is too hard for you to figure out, then ASK NICE and we will try to help. But if it is too frustrating for you then maybe better check out some other online activity.
Nancy, just use your head! It’s the little things that count :)

  117. sandra Says:

Hi guys just came back from montanas in richmond hill and met Carly and i think Enzo. bonus code is cookhouse. They both said they dont do Jeffs blogs too hard. Have a good one

  118. Nancy1 Says:

Saw the “Nancy” comments so thought I’d post something as I do occasionally put things on the blog under the name “Nancy”, but the July 12th 5:40pm post was definitely not mine either. So, now I’ll post under Nancy1 as the comments posted by this other Nancy were rather inappropriate and I wouldn’t want anyone thinking it was me.

I was able to get the puzzle on Friday do, in large part, to the rather fabulous clues left by fellow bloggers. It is often the clues posted on the blog that help me out, so thanks again to all of you who take the time to help with the puzzle solving.

  119. Nancy1 Says:

To Sandra & Kath - many thanks for the bonus codes!
In case you missed it, the radio countdown bonus code this weekend was campfire.

  120. Cathy Says:

Sandra…..a big thank you. I come from Aurora and didn’t quite make it there today!

  121. Spyderman Says:

    Sandra,

Thanks for the Montana’s bonus code. That was a big bunch of points.

    CHEERS

    Spyderman

  122. chas Says:

sandra, thankyou! that really makes my weekend.

  123. chas Says:

    Sandra, Thank You!.

  124. JB Says:

With initials like mine, I dare not bog of “mytomfoolery” sexploits Jeff - just in case there are any dyslexic people that may reverse my initials.
O-O-O-La-La!! Why am I thinking of an Alanis Morrisette song from Jagged Little Pill??

  125. JB Says:

P.S. Feeling sorry for all the NANCYS on the blog, what’s with the crabby one? I think I work with her……UGH.
    She’s so perfect…. I guess there’s no pleasing some people/machines.

  126. Kath Says:

    Sandra,
thanks for the Montana’s code. I was pretty pleased to add that to my score this weekend.
Nancy1, NancyM & Nan: you’re most welcome… I’m glad I was able to help so many this weekend. with such a bad run for myself for the early part of the week… it was nice to get this one done early.
