You Keep Me Hangin’ On

Ah, the long weekend is approaching. It’s the traditional ‘planting weekend’ for us here in Southern Ontario which usually necessitates a trip to the garden centre. With a million other people. Dealing with the line-ups, the parking lots and such may just turn you into this.

  14. Rob L. Says:

    April;
My last comment to you was about DDD posting that I needed all the help I could get. By the time his comment was posted I had already solved thet days riddle and left several clues which were help in moderation. As for staying late and helping others lFriday night, sorry, but I was helping someone paint their house this past weekend. With that and mother’s day, I had my hands full. Hopefully I can solve today’s early enough to be of some help…

  15. Wendy Says:

You are on the right track Janis. I stand corrected you could think music, … sorry I didn’t mean to drive anyone crazy!

  16. jason Says:

    Geez, that was easy!

Diana: if you like musical clues, think really early Greenday (this will probably be held up by The Jeff in moderation until the end of the day).

See if these lyrics jog your memory, Diana: Do you have the time to listen to me whine…

  17. Rob L. Says:

    not oscarthegrouch

  18. Lori Says:

I was going to say a crazy person
    No that does not work.

BarbH, Claire and Wendy, am I close or does it have something to do with the picture?

  19. Lori Says:

    Sandra hope you feel better!

  20. Lori Says:

Janis a mad lunatic does not work either.

  21. Claire Says:

This one is easy everyone. Don’t make yourselves crazy trying to figure it out. Don’t overthink, just look at the picture.

April, I will talk to you later and explain where I’ve been.

  22. Jack Says:

Jeff, to be driving around and in a parking lot with all of those people will make you meshugeh kop!

I felt like this yesterday waiting in line at the restaurant to take my mother out for lunch. Wow was it crowded!

    No clue here.

I have one basket with six flowers and four spice plants I do not know what to do with all of them.

  30. andrew Says:

I’ll have to take all my beer cases, back to the beer store they are piling up.

  31. Cathy Says:

Oh! To get it right away! I can go to the pool here in Phoenix or maybe go play a round of golf….Certainly not a Green Day here in Arizona!

  32. Lynda Says:

Sometimes I give myself the creeps when I get it this quickly!

  33. Wendy Says:

You know how you get a song stuck in your head. And you can’t get it out. Like 1-0-4-1. I am slowly going crazy… 1-4-0-1 switch.

  34. Pat Says:

Thanks Andrew. I got it with your clue. Now I can get on with my day.

  35. Lynda Says:

I bought plenty of hanging baskets last week, just in case there weren’t any left this weekend. My grass is looking very green — day time shows the dandelions though.

  36. Christine Says:

    The grass is green today.

  37. Diana Says:

a clue please Jeff for those of us that are still clueless?!

  38. thedoctorizin Says:

“Set me free..why don’t ya babe.”
“Get outta my life, why don’t ya babe?”
“Cause ya don’t really need me, ya just keep me hangin’ on.”

  39. Belwood Says:

andrew, I feel that your predicament calls for a muskoka chair and case of beer — you need to be calm before tackling that level of problem; especially on a long weekend!

  40. Cathy Says:

YES…do think music people, music people!

  41. April Says:

WOW, that was so great, got it on the first try as I think that what I wrote on Sunday on Friday’s blog may have given Jeff the clue to post this today. I know it hard to believe, but I was in a car accident AGAIN!!!

On Saturday, my Mom and I went to look at hanging baskets and were driving down a lane to find parking when 3 young 20 year old boys came ZIPPING around the corner and smashed right into my left side/front of the car, just missed hitting my door and me!! He got the worst damage, but I just got my car back from being fixed, so I was furiuos and another couple came running down and saw what had happened and started screaming at the kid (after I did) and said that they had seen him tearing around the parking lot like a race car driver, so he said it was his fault and apologized, but I was in shock and shaking so much that my Mom took down all his info. Called 911 and they said if the cars were driveable that all I had to do was go to the reporting center within 48 hours. He said he’d rather pay for the damage to my car then go through the insurance and I agree after what they put me through last time, but I decided to be on the safe side, I better report it in case he says it was my fault etc. So confused now and upset, don’t know what the heck to do!! Didn’t help that it just made my injuries from the last one worse! I’ve never had an accident in all my years in driving then in 2 years I get whammed from behind by 2 cars and the this one, BOTH NOT MY FAULT, but the insurance companies don’t care whose fault it is, they just drive you crazy!!

Glad I could help you Jeff with the title for today’s blog, LOL!!!

  42. Daniela Says:

It’s a perfect Day to plant Greenery.

  43. Donald W Says:

Tried all of these but none took.

  56. Jake Says:

April I see your clue Drive me Crazy.

Is one of the words a clue or code.

  57. sharon Says:

OK - there are many of you who have solved this one already - since Jeff isn’t giving us any extra clues, maybe those of you who have found it an easy one today, may want to throw a few clues to us who are struggling with this. I am truly lost on it - please …………………….

  58. jason Says:

My clue from this morning is still being held hostage by The Jeff.

I see that a bunch of folks have gotten theirs’ through-one particular word is repeated, and the last one has started to show up too. The answer today is really as simple as ABC.

  59. April Says:

    DONALD W., NICK, LORI, DIANA,
re: today’s clue, one word is definitely in the picture, there are a few of them, plus the same word that is in the picture Is also mentionned in a lot of the comments today, very obvious, that’s why everyone’s saying it was so easy, so don’t overthink it.

It’s also a saying, I FELT LIKE THIS RIGHT AFTER MY ACCIDENT ON SATURDAY!!

GOT IT NOW? HOPE I HELPED, IF NOT LET ME KNOW AND I’LL TRY TO GET ANOTHER CLUE THROUGH LATER,

    April

P.S. I answered you Lori on Friday’s blog too!!

  61. April Says:

    Louise,

Thanks, unfortunately I couldn’t go anywhere near a chiropractor as I have many fusions and plates and screws in my back and a chiropractor would be of NO help to me, BUT I REALLY appreciate the offer and concern, thanks, but there’s nothing anyone can do at this point.

    Thanks,
    April
P.S. SO SORRY TO hear about your Mom. I don’t know what I’d do without mine, so I can’t imagine how hard it is for you.

  62. Diana Says:

Sue P - I can’t believe I just sat thru that whole video LOL….Some days trying to solve Jeff’s riddles makes me feel that way!! Thanks Andrew and Donald W.

April - sorry to hear about your most recent accident.

  63. April Says:

    LORI,

I jusy wrote to you at 2:08, your guess is close if that’s what you call a crazy person, but I’d use it more to explain someone who is at their wit’s end, i.e. like I said, how I felt right after I got in the accident this weekend, plus read my clue and hopefully those should help, LET ME KNOW IF THEY DID!!

    Your pal,
    April

  64. Ralph Says:

LORI - Yes, you are close and yes it has a lot to do with the picture. Donald W. makes it perfectly clear at 12:35pm

  67. Claire Says:

    April,

OMG!! I am so sorry to hear about the accident. Thank God you and your mom are okay. These Mario Andretti wanna be’s, eh. I know the insurance companies can be a pain in the arse, but I think it is better to report, that is just my oppinion though. Maybe someone is Jackster-land can better advise you if they have some inside knowledge of this stuff. I, too had a bad day on Thursday. Started out fine in the morning, the WHAM!!! Got hit with a kidney stone attack. I have NEVER felt such pain in my life, and I had two kids! My hubby called an ambulance and off to emergency I went. Was there till the middle of the night. #@#$%$# doctors!!! They gave me morphine for the pain and a presecription. Had to back in the morning for a cat scan. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. (I don’t think I have any, but if i did…) Well, I am still on Percacet so I am not all together there. But I did manage to do the blog today. Just spending a lot of time sleeping (from the drugs, I guess). Anyway, must not be a good month for Cancerians. (My birthday is June 23, close to yours).
Well, we just have to be grateful that things were not worse I guess.

    Wish you well,
    Your friend Claire

  71. witchie Says:

Thanks Donald W……Somedays I just lack the imagination to figure these things out…I guess I’m just a head case.

  72. sharon Says:

Forget it - I finally got it thanks to Rob L and his 10:15 am clue - Also, thanks to Andrew, but you need to use both of his clues.

Hey April, sorry to hear about your accident. Guess the answer definitely describes how you were ………………………….

  73. Gord Says:

Donald W, thats a good clue, Thanks.

  74. Lori Says:

    Thanks Donald.

Look what the plants are in.

    Read April’s story at 12:23 .
This tells you how you feels after the accident.
She is in very bad shape.

Jeff why don’t give April the car in the garage from the day you drank the beer and cut the grass with that noisy polluting gasoling lawnmover.

  75. andrew Says:

I got hit in the bread basket, and boy did that hurt. In case anyone is wondering , I got hit in the stomach.

  76. Terri Says:

Thanks Doc…between your lovely song and the picture it clicked for me. I didn’t need a case of aggravation today trying to figure this one out.

  77. sharon Says:

For those of you still trying to figure it out - even though Jeff won’t admit it, his update is a clue ………………….. see, he does love us afterall!

  78. Stacey Says:

p.s. thanks Wendy for the ‘right track’ comment!

  81. Ron Says:

    Too easy for once.

  82. Paul Says:

Hey everyone, finally got this one. I must admit I have stopped playing along if I don’t get it in the first 20-30 minutes so I missed the last few. My boss would flipped and I would probably get fired if he knew how much time I spent on non working puzzles like this one.

A clue for everyone else still stuck. Jeff uses the 3rd word in his clue, the first word is 1 letter and the middle word is 6 letters and sometimes we put all our eggs into one.

    Have a great evening everyone.

  85. David Evans Says:

Not an easy one for me today but after 164 different combo’s and help from Donald W.’s 12:35 posting it is done!

  86. Lee Ann Says:

Got this one just after lunch, with all the hullaballoo going on at my work - people buzzing all over. I decided to stay under the radar until lunch time. I was looking, looking, tried a couple of guesses, decided with the brain drain that was this morning - new system, similar, but different windows program, etc…that I would go for my daily power walkafter scarfing down my sammich, and resolved to solve this later. I was outside enjoying the green grass, the beautiful day, then it hit me…not bird pooh, but the answer. I laughed out loud got back to the office and scored me some points. YAY. Can I just tell you what a dolt I am? After solving Friday’s riddle, I ran out of time, and didn’t even enter the morning bonus code!!! DUH! Before I realized it, I’d run out of time…the joys of public computers.

OH MY GOD April, I’m so sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you and your mom are ok. I can’t believe you went through all of that just to have it happen again. Gee whiz, my heart goes out to you. I’m sending a cyber hug your way. This hasn’t been a very good weekend, my friend Donna that goes to my fitness classes with me, just got back from Florida to find out her childhood B.F.F. also named Donna had a massive stroke yesterday and quote “they don’t think she’s going to make it”. I don’t know how old she is, but my friend is 46. Happy Freakin’ Mother’s day, huh? Poor thing, so if I can call on my pals here at the Nation to keep a good though for her, I’d really appreciate it!

    Cheers,
    Lee Ann

  87. Christine Says:

Set my clue free, why don’t you Jeff. You just keep everyone hanging on.

  88. Jennifer Says:

    Claire,

Thanks for your clue of not overthinking. The answer did come to me but I thought, nah, that can’t be it, tried it and, voila, it worked. Hope you are feeling somewhat better. Your incident did sound like a very painful experience. I agree with you about your comments on ER doctors. Boy, they can really make you wait, can’t they? I had a respiratory ailment (my lungs were very congested once) and I couldn’t lie down one night without coughing–so I got no sleep that night–and ended up gong to the ER of a hospital the next day (Sunday) and boy, did they make me wait. For a good 12 hours or so.

    April,

I would have responded to your friday’s comments if I knew you’d be on the blog on the weekend but I just never thought of checking the blog on the weekend. I did get friday’s blog answer around 6:00p.m. that night. Hope you’re feeling better. I am happy to hear that both you and your mom are okay.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery,

    Jennifer

  91. Louie Says:

Oh man, sometimes I give myself the creeps. Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me.

Time to lie down for sure. I’ll take some advil first. Hopefully the headache will go away before The Bachelor tonight. It’s the season finale! Matt is picking Shayne!

    Dear Jeannine,

Thanks very much, I’m SO thankful my Mom’s okay, it just aggravated my injuries that are still recovering from the last accident, c’est la vie!!

    To help with today’s blog:

Please reread my clues at 2:08 & 2:23 THEN READ
Donald W at 12:35 is the BEST ONE!

DO ANY OF YOU WORK FOR A INSURANCE COMPANY?? IF SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS I NEED ALLTHE HELP I CAN GET RIGHT NOW AND WHO BETTER TO ASK THEN MY FRIENDS?

    THANKS EVERYONE,
    APRIL

  97. April Says:

    Jennifer,

Just to let you know that a few of us keep blogging all weekend and until all hours everyday, so that is why it’s always a good thing to check back at the day before to see if there are any comments addressed to you, just to make sure.

    April

P.S. Thanks for your best wishes, jsut another BUMP in my long road to recovery, I’m used to it now!!

  98. April Says:

    Dear Claire,

I just wanted to say that I’d like to thank you and also talk to you later when I’m feeling a bit better, so I will definitely get back to you, just glad to know that you’re feeling better as Percocet’s can definitely do that!!
I KNEW something was wrong, it’s my radar I guess and it’s usually correct, i.e. what happened to you!!! I’m REALLY a Gemini but since I’m on the cusp I also have the great Cancer traits, like you do too (my Mom’s a Cancer too.)

Since you are my friend I want to have enough time to tell you a few things and my arm, neck, and back are sore and fingers are swollen, so I’ll write back later tonight (doubt it) or tomorrow, but just wanted to check in and make sure you knew that I was concerned (see Friday’s blog from me at 8:49 p.m. 2nd paragraph) and glad your feeling heavenly and sleeping well, when you’ve never had to take Percocet’s, they knock you off your feet, unfortunately if I take them, I don’t even feel any relief or anything, so I’m glad the’re working for you.

    HUGS,
    April

  99. Nick Says:

    April

Many thanks for your help - the bulb finally turned on. I hope you heal quickly. I won’t be able to puzzle over many of Jeffs puzzles this week, I’m off to help supervise a Grade 8 trip to Ottawa tomorrow & need to stock up on water balloons and stink pellets….!
    Have a green day.

OMG. I looked at it & got it… it’s been a long time since that happened…

  103. AlanC Says:

It’s the first phase that cross my mind, but did believe it’s that simple.
Here this might help, if anyone still needs more clues.
It’s refering to someone who is in a hopeless mental condition.

Generally means someone that is mentally deficient but on a lighter humorous side can also mean crazy in a harmless way. Somebody that is always doing crazy stupid things could be refered to as being “A —— —-”

  104. kath Says:

    April,
bummer. who’d think that luck would hit you like that???
auto insurance … I could swear!
    so sucks.
keep the faith girl. it will turn out in the end
everyone knows what a great advocate you can be
    time will tell.
carry on working out these puzzles
always gets me thinking on the many possibilities
sometimes the solutions are right there
enough for now. to all a good night!

    Jennifer,
I’m glad you got the answer today. Thank you for your concern, that was very nice of you. Sorry to hear about your experience with the ER. It is especially scary when you have a respiratory ailment. Not being able to breathe clearly and they made you wait 12 hours!!! That is so horrible. Something has to be done about our hospital situation. I bet more than half the people on this blog have similar experiences about long waits in the ER.
Well, I hope all is better for you now.

    Take care,

    Claire

    Jeannine,

Look closely at Donald W. clue at 12:35.

Read it carefully, the answer is there.

  107. Claire Says:

    Lee Ann,

I will say a prayer for Donna’s best friend. She is way too young to go through a terrible stroke like that.

    I wish her well.

    April;
Sorry about the last post being so short. Mondays are bad for me. I am terribly sorry to hear about your accident. I sincerely hope you and you mom are both fine. Life can be SO freaky that way, you never know what is around the corner.
Louise offered to put you in touch with a great Chiro, I know an amazing one also. If you are interested PLEASE let one of us know as there is really no point in living with pain when there is help out there.
AND. Congrats on your win, couldn’t happen to a nicer person.

    Hey April -

My hubby went through similar experiences as you (4 within a year-none his fault), months of missed work and daily physio, battling insurance companies, etc. So I can understand where you’re at.
Stay cool, hang tough, and don’t give up anything just yet, remember it wasn’t your fault.
Have you thought about getting a lawyer?

Claire - sorry to hear you’re under the weather….get well soon.

Lee Ann - thoughts and prayers being sent Donna’s way.

Good night everyone….thanks for all the great clues. I’m thinking that since today was so ‘easy’ for most…….we can expect something not so easy tomorrow. Until then!

    Cheers!

    Dear LEE ANN,

Hi there! SO sorry to hear about your friends condition, I’ll say a special prayer for her and I bet since she’s young, she’ll make it, you have to keep the faith. My Dad has been through a triple bypass and had about 7 heart attacks in his life and he’s still alive (and 82 yars old) and was told a few years ago, that his triple bypass he had done over 20 years ago has blocked up and only one valve of the three is open a bit, keeping him alive, so he could pass on anytime, anyday, it’s scary, as everytime the phone rings and I see it’s from his number, I panic but the guy has had 2 heart attacks since then, so I told him he’s like a cat with 9 lives!!

As for me right back at you with the cyber hug, just wish I knew someone in the insurance business so I could get some unbiased advice as I’m going to get shafted again, I know it.

Keep me updated about your friend’s friend in the hospital, okay?

    Your friend,
    April

  111. Louise Says:

    Hey April,

    Thanks for your kind words.

    Louise

  112. Lori Says:

Thanks April I got the answer for once.
I’m glad you won the Rod Stewart tickets.
    Enjoy yourself at the concert.

    Your friend,

    Lori

  113. Jeannine Says:

    Thanks Donald W!!

I actually had to get up at 5am today to get this!

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  114. Jeannine Says:

P.S. Thank you all for your help….moderation hell doesn’t help since it delays the help being sent out!
