U.S War Resisters: I have a question.
Wednesday, May 28th, 2008Many U.S War resisters and their supporters say they should be able to stay in Canada as “refugees” because they are against their country’s involvement in what has been deemed an illegal war in Iraq by the international community. You know what’s interesting; the United Nations and NATO approved mission in Afghanistan is not condemned as an illegal conflict, so, are these “war resisters” really against the war in Iraq or are they just trying to get out of a commitment that they made to the U.S military the easy convienient way? Seems to me they can’t have it both ways. Maybe they should have at least asked for a transfer to another field of conflict that is considered legal before they broke a bunch of laws to come here and bellyache about their country’s foreign policy. If it was just about not wanting to fight an illegal war in Iraq fine; but it doesn’t look that way to me, I know a coward when I see one. In addition how do you think the families and friends of the 83 Canadian soldiers killed in the U.N and NATO approved mission in Afghanistan feel about you coming here to live? I’ll bet you don’t have the guts to face them to even ask the question. Go home you quitters we don’t need you here.
