Happy Retirement Wayne
The manager of my local Zehrs just retired. Nice guy. Wayne Reidel. I ran into him last week at the store (Saturday was his last day) and he told me he was retiring at the end of the week. I was shocked! “How old are you?” He said “I’m 55.” “How long have you been with Zehrs?” “40 years!” 40 years!!! There’s not a long of companies out there that you’d work for for 40 years. But if you’re a regular customer at Zehrs, as I am, you’ve probably noticed that it’s one of those places that some people give an entire career to. I’m guessing Wayne started as a bag-boy (at least that’s what they called them then) and worked his way up. Now he’s 55…and retiring. Then…he told me he’s already got his part-time job lined up. I thought “Why don’t people know how to retire anymore?” Then he told me what his part-time job was going to be. He’s going to be a starter at Rebel Creek Golf Course. Okay, I was wrong. Some people really know how to retire. Congratulations Wayne. Enjoy that retirement.
