Returning to Charlotte may not mean as much to Jason Kapono - who spent a very short time here and truly enjoyed the best years of his career during his stint in Miami. But for Primoz Brezec, this is home. Well, it WAS home.
Despite the success he had as a Bobcat, Brezec was traded from Charlotte to Detroit earlier this season. His wife and child stayed in Charlotte - so Primoz has been without his family for quite some time. And he told me earlier today that while it feels good to be back in North Carolina, he’s definitely looking to have a solid outing tonight against the Bobcats … to prove to the organization that they made a mistake in letting him go. He admitted that he’ll feel the same way when Toronto goes up against Detroit as well.
Shockingly, Brezec also told me today that Toronto is his last stop in the NBA. He wants to sign-on long-term with the Raptors. Though he’s only been a Raptor for a very short period of time, he says he already knows that this is where he wants to be.
When I asked him how serious he was about this being “it” for him and his NBA career … he emphatically stated that if he does not sign a contract with the Raptors … he will leave the NBA and go play in Europe.
You can hear my chat with Primoz on tonight’s pre-game show, starting at 530pm on the FAN.
