Thanks to you Dave, for doing this. Thanks to the Roughnecks for giving some exciting games downt he stretch...things weren't looking so good at one point. I will give thanks to the fans who were there...but less than 10,000 - I am very disappointed in the people who call themselves sports fans inthis city for their lack of support when this team needed it the most. Let's hope things go better next year.

Good job remiinding people about the "free" game from Brad last time Portland was in town. Funy how many "Roughneck Fans" took him up on that and now gripe and complain about him trying to actaully make money for this game. Also ticked me off in that over 18,000 showed up for the free game and the very next week only about 11,500 came out. That's 11,500 faithful fans that came out and they'll be there tomorrow. Too bad I don't have the same optimism about the rest of the fickle fans looking only for another hand out from Brad.

Hate to say it...but the Roughnecks raising their ticket prices is just following in the footsteps of the FLames and Stampeders...it's what happens for play-offs, ticket prices go up. Not saying it's right...it's just the way it is.

I hate to say it but the Dome won't be packed on Saturday because the team is screwing their fans with ticket prices - especially the season tciket holders who supported the team all year and through the free game.

What they have done is double or triple the price and then give us half price of that - meaning we pay more for our play off tickets than we did for the regular season.

If the Rouchnecks get close to 10,000 I would be surprised. Brad is running this team into the ground!

I totally agree Dave,

I fired off a huge email last night blasting Shaw for their coverage over the whole season.

Mark Stephen mispronouncing names, getting lost in the play, getting stats wrong, weird commercial cuts during the play etc.

It all came to a head last night.

While the guys on Altitude were total homers, at least their broadcast was top notch.

How are the Riggers going to reach a new fanbase with crappy coverage like this?
-------------

Anyhow, great game. Chugger was a little a points but Captain Kelusky, and Shattler were giant killers.

Let's hope we get one more game in Calgary before the finals.

Myself and the wife really enjoyed the game on Sunday, I don't recall the last time I've seen that good a back and forth game from the Neck (certainly not at home this season). One thing I've been noticing more and more watching this team lately is the impact that I feel Heavnor is having on the team.
Heavnor has helped a whole bunch to solidify the 'Neck presence in the face off circle which was somewhere I felt over the past two seasons they'd really been lacking. With the number of goals scored in lacrosse I think the initial faceoff is somewhere that a team really can't allow itself to be weak.
The only other thing I'm still not sold on is the Ratcliffe for Sanderson trade. I understand that the 'Necks offense is gifted with a good number of natural finishers and a setup man SHOULD help them along. But I can't help compare this to hockey. Would you rather have an Iginla on the ice when you need a goal, or a Tanguay? I personally hope I'm wrong about this trade. And I'm sure that Sanderson can prove me wrong over the rest of this season and the next couple.

There's my two cents.

Hi Dave,

I just read your blog on the poor showing at the Roughnecks game on Friday. Poor showing from teh team, poor showing from the fans. I can't say that I was surprised. For the past 3 years this team has been inconsistent, a good game or two in a row followed by one or two piss poor games...results in a season where they make the play-offs as the number 2 or 3rd seed (barely sometimes) and get dumped in that play-off game with seemingly a lacklustre effort. I think the first time fans that came to see the game for free did a little homework on this team and wondered if they'd get the same effort. Then again, there are lots of people that would take a free ticket to see Celine Dion in Edmonton (Gross). Reminds me of 2004 when "everyone" was a Flames Fan on the Red Mile. What a load of bull that was, people cheering on the team and the only player who's name they knew was Iggy's...any reason to party. My own opinion on the Rigger's inconsistency...until the the NLL can become stable & profitable enough to ensure that the players & coaching staff can afford to play, practice & live in the same city they play for, you will see this year after year(This theory obviously won't apply to the Flames). I just don't know if the league will become that strong. I hope it can...I enjoy the game and admire the athletes who play it. As for how Mr. Bannister can fill the Dome for every game...just win...that's the only way, but I have no ideas for how to make that happen every time.
