Rob & Big Complete Third Season. Out today. (***3/10)
Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the complete third season of a show called Rob and Big on Tuesday, September 23rd. It’s a show about two mismatched roommates….yep. That’s about it. You see, one’s a big fat black guy. And one’s a skinny little white guy. And they have adventures…only MTV could dream up a show like this. MTV seems to be able to find two people who on their own could be mildly entertaining, and thrust them together in order to make a reality show. But someone who is mildly entertaining when you meet them at the bar does not necessarily warrant his own show. And putting him together with that other guy, who also made you smile a few times when you were drunk? Not a great idea.
But man, it must be sweet to be one of the guys picked up by MTV. Rob & Big appear to have no jobs at all. They don’t work, they don’t have any discernible source of income, yet they live in this giant mansion, complete with outdoor pool and every amenity you could dream of having. They seem to have unlimited funds, with which they can purchase lie detectors, net guns, and whatever other product they need for their next staged wacky adventure.
OK, I now see, upon looking it up on wikipedia, that Rob and Big are actually Rob Dyrdek, who is a professional skateboarder, and Christopher Boykin, his bodyguard. So MTV didn’t meet them in a bar. But that doesn’t make this show any less inexplicable. Are there enough skateboarding fans to watch simply because this guy is a skateboarder? I’m guessing now. It was cancelled after this season.

…is everything you write stream-of-consciousness verbal diarrhea like this? What’s the point to writing an article about something you know nothing about? That is, until the last paragraph, where you consult Wikipedia.

Well, the point is that I wrote the review knowing everything I needed to know - that is, I watched Season Three of this show. And after watching Season Three, I was still forced to consult Wikipedia in order to find out exactly who these people were. Which says a little something, doesn’t it? And yes, everything I write is stream-of-consciousness verbal diarrhea.

maybe your issue is you started with season 3? the show was one of the highest rated in it’s time slot and was hilarious. it ended because big black had a baby and rob stated he “wanted to go out in the shows prime”. so ya. maybe try everybody loves raymond or king of queens, they seem like they would be more your speed. oh and rob was an integral part of dc shoes. which is a HUGE skateboarding company that was bought out in 2003 for $88 million dollars. so rob isn’t just some skate dude. research, it’s what journalism is based on.

hahaha, I like that. “Rob & Big appear to have no jobs at all.” Yeah I mean unless you don’t count being an ex navy vet/ professional bodyguard, and a pro skater who’s one of the most well known skaters on one of the worlds most popular skateboarding shoe companies. The show wasn’t cancelled either, Rob and Big decided to call it quits, and it helped MTV2 reach its highest day in channel history. They aren’t just some random guys, but I like the research that you did AFTER writing the review.

So…what I’m getting from all you guys is that you all are into skateboarding, and this guy, and by extension this show…so a review serves no purpose for you. For the 99% of all other people who have never heard of these guys, this show would be rather pointless. In that it never explains who they are, or why they live in a mansion, or anything else. So unless you are a skateboarder yourself, or a frequenter of this dc shoes thing, this show is powerfully irritating. But thanks for the extra info, everyone! This DOES make the show better…oh wait…
