Scream For Me, Toronto!
Sunday is going to be a huge deal for a lot of people, including my longtime friend who goes under the alias “The House That Rock Built”. Iron Maiden returns to Toronto on their “Somewhere Back In Time” World Tour. The set list will be pure 80’s, with a stage design recalling the Powerslave tour.
A few people were surprised when I told them that the show is entirely sold out; they wondered if Iron Maiden were “really” that popular. Indeed they are. Old school metal has been making a huge comeback for years, and since reforming with Bruce Dickinson (thee Bruce Dickinson) on vocals in 1999, Iron Maiden have been consistently getting better. For fans, the bands last three studio albums (2000’s “Brave New World”, 2003’s “Dance of Death, and 2006’s “A Matter of Life and Death”) are considered to be essential pieces of their history, while their live shows are intense, anthemic, and loud.
If you’re going to the gig, let us know what you think of it when you’re done (and bring ear plugs, cuz you know it’s going to be loud). And if you’ve got a favourite Maiden moment, we’d love to hear from you. In the meantime, here’s something to get you ready for the show.

Ahhh, Andrew. You were in diapers the first time I saw Maiden. Seeing you all grown up with me at the show on Sunday - that’ll be my favourite moment.

great video post andrew.
i bought their latest dvd - life after death & its an awesome concert.
this sunday concert is indeed sold out. i waited too late to buy them tickets. now im in regret. its gonna be an awesome show i think cuz their 1st 5 albums of the 80s are the best ones especially piece of mind & powerslave & their self titled debut. ive played ur maiden contest for free tickets “twice” but no luck. i guess the scalpers are the only way to the acc on sunday. i wonder how much do they want for the cheapest set.
since this happened to me, ive secured my megadeth tix (gigantour 3) already for april 30 at the arrow hall.
are you into thrash metal Anrew?

Hey Iron Joe,
I’m not really into the thrash metal. I saw Megadeth open for Heaven and Hell at ACC and was really happy I got to see them. When it comes to the harder stuff, my tastes go more towards Maiden and Dream Theater.
Thanks for writing!

I saw Iron Maiden the first time a few years ago at Messy Hell, I mean, Massey Hall and I know what you’re saying about those earplugs. My hearing didn’t return to normal for three days! They indeed turn up the volume at their concerts. I now bring earplugs to every concert just in case.

All I can say is WOW!
That was my seventh time seeing Iron Maiden, and to be truthful, I was really expecting the worst. Not the worst from Maiden, but the sound at the ACC..My 6th show overall (Ozzy,RUSH,Eagles to name a few)at the ACC, and whatever sound issues they had before, they didn’t exist last night!
I have to say this was the best show ever put on by these amazing musicians.
Wasn’t sure who the opening act were, but, it could have been Maiden Bassist (Steve Harris’) daughter Lauren Harris? Or Laura Harris? Anyways, it could just be coincidence having the same last (Maiden) name.. lol
Bruce let it slip that they are making a return trip to Toronto this summer, and I can’t wait…
Favourite moment? Last night when they played “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” in its entirety. Purely sublime.
Thanks for remembering these Metal Gods Andrew!
