My Two Fave Grammy Moments

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Did you watch the Grammys last night? I thought it was an alright show, but if I’m totally honest I thought that there were very few great rock moments throughout the show. I thought the Fogerty/Little Richard/Jerry Lee Lewis performance was way to freaking boring. I also thought seeing Robbie Robertson sitting in the crowd as the only one representing the Band was really very sad. Now maybe Levon Helm didn’t make it on camera, but if the guy decided not to show because of his ridiculous longstanding feud with the guy who WROTE the songs, I’d just say, Levon, get over it.

There were two Grammy highlights for me. I thought Foo Fighters did a kickass version of “The Pretender”; I even dug the orchestral segment conducted by John Paul Jones (and Jason Bateman referring to anyone who didn’t know who JPJ was as “morons” was priceless).  You can take a look at that one below.

My other highlight was not a rock one; the Time’s performance with Rihanna was super funky, groovy, and energetic. Check it out and let me know what you think.
