Rush Returns To T.O., Complete With New Live Album

rush-live.jpg

One of the best gigs I saw last year was the first of Rush’s two night stand at Air Canada Centre in support of “Snakes and Arrows”. It cost us a pretty penny, but my buddy and I sat about 16 rows back from Geddy, Alex, and Neil - the closest I’ve ever been at one of their concerts. It was an excellent show, highlighting some great old tunes along with highlights from “Snakes and Arrows”, in my mind the band’s best offering since 1991’s “Roll The Bones”.

If you missed either of the sold-out shows, don’t worry. Rush is coming back to Toronto on the next leg of the tour, with July 9th pencilled in for a gig at Molson Amphitheater. We’re waiting on onsale details; as soon as I get them I’ll post them right here for you. And while there aren’t any firm details, it’s being reported that a new live album from Rush will be in stores come April.

Do you have a favourite Rush moment? Album? Song? Let me know here.

In the meantime, here’s a special bonus word for you, good till midnight tonight: PEART.

Most awesome Rush show for a Toronto Tonto was 10th row center stage at the CNE for A Farewell to Kings tour 1978 with opening act Max Webster and their new album High Class in Borrowed Shoes, both bands were excellent.
I could kill the wife for throwing out my old concert T-shirt a few years ago but at least I got her out of my life and still have a great concert to remember.

Finally, a man with a great taste for true music. rush is the best band canada has ever put out on the market and the best band the world will ever come to know. best drummer and lyricest-neil peart. i’ve read all of neil’s books, ghost rider-neil’s autobiography-a must read for any and all rush fans. i missed their snakes and arrows tour in toronto(work), but i caught them in montreal before their toronto dates-AWESOME. one of my best memories is seeing max webster open for rush on several differant occasions at maple leaf gardens in the late seventies. a band who get dissed too much and a band who never gets enough credit. the only canadian band to sell out wembly stadium in london three nights in a row. the world will suffer a great loss when these three canadian gents decide to hang it up. thanks-peace

I saw Rush on their Subdivisions tour back in … what ‘83 - ‘84. That was the last album I listened to. I heard cuts from their subsequent albums but I think they suck. Especially “Roll the Bones.” I think that is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard. When Neil Peart was voted as one of the worst lyicists, I agreed wholeheartedly! I heard some of the latest album and I still think it sounds like garbage. Their lyrics are too political, for one thing. Music is to entertain. I know, I know, music has had political involvement ever since music began and was very big during the ’60’s and early ’70’s with the wars and such. But at least those lyrics were good.

Thanks for writing…but I couldn’t disagree with you more about Neil’s lyrics. You might want to give “Snakes and Arrows” another shot - it really has a lot going for it, including 3 instrumentals if you don’t dig the words.
