Baby Left at Airport

AC Jet

Did you hear about this family that left their toddler at the airport?  They were immigrating to Canada from the Philippines.  Destined for Winnipeg, they had a connecting Air Canada flight through Vancouver.  The four adults were separated into two groups, each assuming the child was with the other.  Since he is too young to have his own seat, no one - including the airline - realized the young passenger was missing at first.  (Kind of strange, don’t you think?  He’s 23-months, so presumably it would be oddly quiet without him.  But I digress…)  It was only when he was discovered wandering around the flight gates that the race to find his parents was on.  To read the whole story, click HERE.  For those of you too lazy to read the whole thing, the airline flew his dad back to Vancouver to collect him and then back to Winnipeg

What person or item have you accidentally left behind?  After a long day, my leather agenda and I were seated on a bench, awaiting the next southbound train at York Mills Station.  The subway train arrived, I got up and got on, and only as the doors closed did I notice my agenda still on the bench, forlorn without me.  I got off at Lawrence Station and took the next train north, only to discover that my leather lifeline was no longer there.  I made my way to the collector’s booth to enquire about it.  I wasn’t very optimistic, but lo and behold - someone had actually turned it in!  The collector told me to check to make sure all my valuables were inside.  He seemed puzzled to learn that the folder I was so happy to be reunited with had never contained money or a phone to begin with - just papers.  All my appointments, some phone numbers, my last performance review (yikes!) - all items that would take forever to replace or once the info was out there, you couldn’t reel it back in.  I don’t know who turned in my agenda, but I’m still thankful to this day.

Lucky you - there are some honest people out there.
For my birthday a few years ago, my mom & I were out shopping at Square One, she had just bought me a bottle of Tommy Girl perfume, and of course the gal at the Bay puts it in this teensy bag. I was carrying other bags, bigger ones, and set my stuff down on a bench to put something away in my purse. Off we walked when I realized I was missing the aforementioned teensy bag, get back to the bench, the bag and empty box the perfume was in were in the garbage. Gonzo. I wished some hateful sh*t on the person(s) who helped themselves rather than take it back to the store. I hoped they had an allergic reaction to the perfume and they broke out in a scabby rash. Not too vendictive, am I?
I don’t think I stopped crying (not inconsolibly, just defeated at the nature of mankind in general) all the way out the mall and too the car. :’(

Carly’s Note: Yeah, that really sucks. I hope you commiserated with a good friend over a really stiff drink!

Leaving an audition once, I was with an associate and we began to chat as we walked to our vehicles. When we reached mine, I put my daytimer and little plastic folder that I use to hold a supply of headshots on the roof of the car while we chatted. (Can you see where this is going?)
After talking for about 15 minutes, I hopped into the car and sped off. It was only an hour later when I went to check my daytimer to find out where I needed to be next that I realized it wasn’t in the car. Long story short, I ended up panicking and driving back downtown to find what I thought would be my lost book and $20 worth of pictures.
After half an hour of searching (in the Logan and Gerrard area), I found them! The daytimer was mangled from all the cars that had driven over it, but that $1 plastic folder had shielded my pictures from ruin. (Good investment, no?)
And thus concludes my tale. ;)

Carly’s Note: Sorry to hear the leather portfolio was ruined, but at least your info didn’t get leaked. And your photos could be salvaged for your next audition.

I lost my mind once, but then I found it an hour later. LOL

Carly’s Note: That must have been an interesting hour!
