Movie Theatre Misadventure

I checked out No Country for Old Men on the weekend. It’s based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning story and is the latest movie from the Coen brothers, the guys who brought us two of my favourites - The Big Lebowski and Fargo. It’s a good film reminiscent of Fargo - a criminal act spirals out of control, an astute and decent cop is on the case, despite other distractions in life. The cop in this film is played by Tommy Lee Jones.
So at the end of the movie, and I’m not giving anything away here, his character is describing a dream he had. At this point, a guy in our row gets up and exits the theatre. Distracted, I watch him leave… and then the next thing I know, the credits are rolling. Wha’ happened? Clearly, the purpose of the dream relates back to the meaning of the movie and I missed it because of buddy. Great! Now I have to go back and see it again or wait for it to come out on video. Has that ever happened to you, where you miss the crucial moment? Tell me about it in the Comments section below.

I went to see “The Sixth Sense” with some family members and they went to get the popcorn for everyone…missing the opening part of the movie. Needless to say they didn’t understand the ending at all.

Funny you should ask. I was bidding on the “Awake” tickets online last night, fell asleep and got outbid at 11:56 p.m.
That’s what I get for walking away from the computer, sitting on the couch and watching the news. It put me to sleep. I woke up at 12:05 a.m. and of course the auction had closed.
Keep up the great work today Carly - you can fly solo anytime - who needs men when women rule.

I also saw ‘No Country for Old Men’ on the weekend. I saw the whole movie, no one around me got up to leave before the end. However, I too was distracted. I was thinking of what had happened up to that point of the movie you descibed. My problem, I was ‘busy’ putting things (pieces of the puzzle) together then the screen went dark!! Talk about missing the punch line.

I saw the movie and didn’t miss the end….it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. I’m still waiting for the big reveal that will pull the movie together. But I’ll say this - the bad guy - he takes the cake on the psycho meter. A real original.

Are you that easily distracted ?
